Renting a Luxury Pad for Love
Controversial “Married at First Sight” participant, Jacqui Burfoot, has spoken out clarifying her homeownership situation.
During Homestay Week, it turned out that the 29-year-old had rented a $200-per-night Airbnb, specifically for the experiment, which caused some mix-up among participants.
Sharp-eyed spectators noticed a mistake made by the production team, as the high-end property bore no resemblance to the house featured in her wedding storyline.
Now Jacqui has admitted she is taking advantage of what real estate gurus call ‘rentvesting’.
This refers to purchasing a property primarily with the intention of generating income through rent, as opposed to acquiring it for personal use and living elsewhere while renting a separate home.
In a Q&A session on TikTok, Jacqui clarified that she doesn’t personally own the house where she resides.

However, unlike some people, I manage my own finances as my parents are property developers, and I hold several property investments.
‘Just because you’re not living in a home you own, it doesn’t mean you can’t afford it.
In many cases, rentvesting can prove to be more financially advantageous, particularly if you reside in a city as expensive as Sydney.
As a lifestyle consultant, allow me to share some insights about property ownership versus renting. In my previous living situation, the property was valued at approximately $2.7 million. Interestingly, it’s more cost-effective for me to purchase this property due to favorable mortgage interest rates, rather than continuing to rent it. This is because the return on investment from owning a property, even with a mortgage, can be lower compared to the ongoing rental costs.
Jacqui clarified that investing in real estate in rapidly expanding regions often results in larger returns, or increased value on the initial investment over a period of time.
She mentioned that you could essentially earn a rental income that surpasses both the mortgage payments and the interest rates, by leasing it out.
Jacqui explained that many city property owners often opt for a strategy called ‘rentvesting’, which means they choose to rent a place to live instead of their own purchased property.
After the jewelry store owner had gone back to the Northern Beaches for Homestays Week, she was seen entering a lavish residence in Manly, which was said to be her home.

However, the property was in fact a $200-a-night Airbnb rental.
The voiceover referred to the property as “Jacqui’s house,” however, it was actually a two-story rental unit that had been organized by the production team.
Based on information from someone involved in the production, it was considered inappropriate and not practical enough for filming because Jacqui’s real living space was quite tiny.
A source informed Daily Mail Australia that the woman shared her residence with roommates, but due to its disorganized condition, she found herself uneasy about it.
‘Ryan and Jacqui were told to act as if the house wasn’t a fake, but rather their own, without disclosing its true nature.’
The Homestay week is arranged to provide a peek into the everyday routines of MAFS participants, creating an illusion for viewers that they’re residing in their real homes.
Given Jacqui’s actual residence, a compact flat in Manly, producers chose a more aesthetically pleasing option instead.
Later on, Jacqui criticized Ryan’s house located in the western Sydney suburb of Campbelltown, labeling it as ‘boganic’, even though Ryan legally owns the property.
After finishing her work on set, it’s been said that Jacqui has stepped down from her job in Sydney and moved permanently to Tasmania to be with Clint. This significant change of location highlights just how serious their relationship has grown.
Last month, Daily Mail Australia disclosed that Jacqui swiftly moved on from her television spouse, Ryan, and embarked on a fresh phase in life with Clint.
Despite neither of them announcing their official relationship status, there seems to be strong indications that the two have found love outside of Married at First Sight, an unexpected romance that the experts didn’t foresee.
As the highly anticipated reunion episode nears, everyone is eagerly waiting to see if Jacqui and Clint will officially declare their relationship on live television.
