As a devoted fan who has grown up with Bridget Jones, I can hardly contain my excitement as the iconic character returns to our screens after more than 20 years! Having followed Bridget’s tumultuous love life and career since the first film, it feels like reuniting with an old friend.

Renee Zellweger was spotted hiking in a forest while shooting somber sequences for Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.

Last week, the actress who is now 55 years old and has portrayed the main character since 2001, filmed scenes for the fourth installment of a series in the beautiful Lake District National Park, located in Keswick.

Earlier this month, it was officially announced by production company, Working Title, that their upcoming movie is scheduled for release in cinemas on Valentine’s Day next year. Additionally, they shared that the filming phase has concluded.

Meanwhile, it appeared that there were yet unfinished shots, since Renée set off for a school camping excursion during a rainy spell, accompanied by her teacher crush who was portrayed by the renowned actor Chiwetel Ejiofor from Marvel.

Bridget moved through the forest, wearing a waterproof coat and a wide-brimmed hat, before she sat down with the kids to spin tales by the campfire.

The highly praised series’ next part is adapted from the book with the same title, penned by Helen Fielding.

The story then unfolds with Bridget coping on her own as a single mom, after the unfortunate demise of her spouse Mark, portrayed by Colin Firth in earlier movies.

In the latest film, “Bridget Jones’s Baby,” Bridget attends a memorial service for Daniel Cleaver, her former love interest, who is believed to have perished in a plane accident. However, it’s revealed later on that he was actually still alive.

A well-adored figure embarks on a brief romance with a charismatic young man nicknamed Rockstar, portrayed by actor Leo Woodall from “One Day,” aged 27. They cross paths on social media platforms and subsequently develop feelings for each other.

Apart from her romance with Rockstar, our charming diarist will delve into a potential romance with Mr. Walker, portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who happens to be her son’s PE teacher, as well as rekindle her tumultuous relationship with Daniel, played by Hugh Grant.

On August 9th, the production company, Working Title, posted an update stating that they had finished filming for the upcoming sequel, and it is scheduled to be released in cinemas on Valentine’s Day.

A photo uploaded to their account shows a director’s chair in front of the iconic character’s Borough Market home with The Globe Tavern seen in the background.

‘That’s a wrap. See you on Valentine’s Day,’ they captioned.

After a short break, filming continued as Renee was spotted on set alongside Leo on August 26, outside Borough Market.

The pair were seen walking past Bridget’s iconic flat above The Globe Tavern, where the character lived in the first films.

Outside, the street was well-known for being the location where the memorable brawl occurred between Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver, both competing for Bridget’s affection, in the initial movie.

Back when The Mail on Sunday spilled the beans, I was beyond thrilled to learn that my beloved Bridget is planning to swap her iconic bachelorette pad for a cozy family home nestled in picturesque Hampstead, North London – a place where so many cherished scenes have been recently shot!

It was also revealed Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy is to be reunited with Bridget Jones after all.

When the actor’s name didn’t appear on the cast roster, viewers grew concerned that his character might have been written out of the storyline.

Later on in Helen Fielding’s books, her character dies while serving as a human rights attorney overseas, having previously married Bridget.

Yet, in unique snapshots taken on the set of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, it’s evident that Renee is affectionately engaging with her co-star, Colin.

In Fielding’s “Mad About The Boy” novel, Bridget found herself living as a widow, four years following the demise of her husband Darcy. Astonishingly, he makes an unexpected reappearance in her life, which film producers were keen to keep secret.

A source said: ‘Colin was always going to appear in the movie but it was supposed to be a secret.’

Fans will need to show some patience to discover if Darcy’s luck holds up, or if this appearance is just a part of a dream scenario.

Last week, the first poster for the upcoming film was unveiled, much to the delight of fans.

Posing with her diary and pen, the poster reads: ‘New decade, New diary’.

Announcing her return, the movie production company, Working Title, titled their post: “Bridget Jones is here to embark on a new journey”.
