Remember Pixar's Win or Lose series? It finally has a release date for Disney+

As a seasoned gamer and animation enthusiast with a soft spot for Pixar productions, I must say that the news about “Win or Lose” has me absolutely ecstatic! After the rollercoaster ride of emotions brought on by the unexpected success of “Elemental” and the triumphant return of “Inside Out 2”, I can’t help but feel like I’m standing on the precipice of a new era in Pixar storytelling.

Remember Win or Lose? Pixar’s first long form original series was originally supposed to arrive on Disney+ back in 2023. But it was quietly delayed and bumped to 2024, with no official word from Disney.

Over the weekend at D23, they officially revealed that the movie “Win or Lose” will make its debut on Disney+ during the upcoming holiday season. Specifically, it’s set to air on December 6, 2024.

The title “Win or Lose” refers to an original series that delves into the diverse narratives of eight characters as they gear up for their championship softball match. Each episode offers a unique perspective from one of these characters, providing insights into their personal struggles leading up to the climactic game. These stories range from the humorous to the emotional and are brought to life in a distinctive animated style, featuring everything from anxious youngsters to overly involved parents, and even a smitten umpire.

The show is overseen by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates as both directors and writers, while David Lally serves as the producer.

Initially designed as a sequel to Pixar’s surprise blockbuster “Elemental,” titled “Win or Lose,” started off with a disappointing opening. However, favorable critic reviews and enthusiastic audience chatter resulted in a remarkable comeback. Eventually, the movie raked in close to $500 million globally.

After initially facing difficulties at the box office, Disney’s animated film experienced a remarkable comeback. Instead of releasing another film titled ‘Elemental’, they followed it with “Inside Out 2”, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2015 hit movie “Inside Out”.

Under the guidance of Kelsey Mann, the sequel to Inside Out, titled Inside Out 2, was an impressive hit, both with critics and audiences. With a staggering global gross of $1.6 billion, Inside Out 2 has now set the record as Pixar’s highest-earning film ever, outperforming Frozen II.

As Pixar continues to gain traction, there’s no doubt that people are eagerly anticipating the tales that will unfold in the upcoming film titled “Win or Lose.”

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited about the latest updates from D23! They’ve set the release date for Toy Story 5 to summer 2026, and trust me, it’s going to be epic! Additionally, they announced a brand-new Disney+ series titled Dream Productions, inspired by Inside Out, which is expected to premiere in 2025. Can’t wait to dive into these stories!
