What to Read Next

Treasure Island is an exciting adventure story about Jim Hawkins, a young boy who transforms from an ordinary, protected life to one filled with the dangers and thrills of piracy.

I’m so hooked on this story! It all starts when Jim stumbles upon an old treasure map, and suddenly, his life and his mom Bess’s are turned upside down. Before they even get going on The Hispaniola, they’re right in the middle of danger, caught between this really scary pirate, Long John Silver, and this smooth-talking British agent, Aaron Graham, who you just know you can’t trust. It’s a wild ride!

According to Variety, the story of Treasure Island follows Jim as he faces a much more challenging and perilous world than he expected, where his strength, friendships, and sense of self are put to the test, all for the chance to gain a great reward.

In a statement, Sebastian Cardwell from Paramount+ described the new adaptation of Treasure Island as a fresh and immersive take on a classic story loved by audiences for many years.

This new version of the classic story adds compelling emotional layers and a modern feel. We’re excited to collaborate with Playground and MGM+ to share this visually stunning adventure with viewers in the UK, Ireland, the US, and around the world.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island has appeared in many movies and TV shows over the years. Notable adaptations include a 1972 film featuring Orson Welles, and a particularly beloved 1999 version starring the Muppets and Tim Curry as Long John Silver.

In a 1990 television film, a young Christian Bale acted with Charlton Heston and Oliver Reed, playing the role of Jim.

I remember back in 2012 when Sky put out this awesome miniseries – Eddie Izzard played Long John Silver, and Donald Sutherland was Captain Flint. It was a really cool take on the story!

A release date is yet to be announced for MGM+ and Paramount+’s Treasure Island series.

The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Taylor Swift, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
