The Red Dead series showcases Rockstar’s storytelling talent, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is often hailed as a masterpiece of video game writing. With its compelling story, complex characters, and emotionally powerful scenes, Rockstar creates a deep connection between players and its characters – flaws and all. That’s why fans are so excited to see what comes next in the series.
As of today, Rockstar Games hasn’t officially said whether or not a Red Dead Redemption 3 is in development. It’s still unclear if the game will happen, and if so, who the main character will be. Despite this, fans are already buzzing with theories, and two names are being mentioned repeatedly as potential leads.
If Red Dead Redemption 3 Is A Prequel, These Should Be Our Stars
I was scrolling through the Red Dead subreddit the other day and saw this really interesting image from Red Dead Redemption 2 that’s got everyone talking about Red Dead Redemption 3. It’s a picture of a young Arthur Morgan with Dutch and Hosea, and it’s making a lot of fans, including me, wonder if we could play as them in the next game! The person who posted it said – and I totally agree – that it makes them want another prequel, just to see the gang at their best. Seriously, seeing them in their prime would be amazing!
Predictably, fans quickly started talking about who might be the next main character in a future game, or who they’d like to see carry on the legacy of John Marston and Arthur Morgan. One user, CactusToothBrush, commented, “I really think the story of that gang is finished. It would be amazing to go back to the time of the Civil War, though, with a new group of outlaws, or perhaps right after the war ended.”
Many fans think Red Dead Redemption 3 should feature a completely new protagonist and story, separate from the Van der Linde gang. One player put it simply: “The original story has reached its conclusion, and RDR3 needs fresh characters, a new narrative, and a new map.”
A Red Dead Game About Dutch And Hosea Would Go Hard
Considering how memorable Hosea and Dutch are, despite not being the main characters, a video game told from their perspectives could give fans a better understanding of their motivations. One user, Arcadyaa, suggested that a new prequel could focus on the Blackwater massacre, arguing that Red Dead Redemption 3 should address this key event, even if it doesn’t center solely on the Van der Linde gang. They also proposed a prequel trilogy exploring the Wild West in its prime, rather than its decline, as the previous games did. Arcadyaa liked the idea of playing as an O’Driscoll to show a different side of the conflict, but ultimately believes Rockstar will deliver a compelling story regardless of which direction they choose.
Although Rockstar hasn’t officially announced Red Dead Redemption 3, with the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI in November, they might start working on a new Red Dead game soon.
