Red Dead Redemption 2 Officially Gets Official Update Available Now

When Red Dead Redemption 2 came out in 2018, it was a visual masterpiece. While it still looks beautiful, the game is starting to show its age, particularly because it hasn’t been updated to run on newer consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Good news for fans! You don’t have to wait for a new game to experience the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 with stunning, Grand Theft Auto VI-level graphics. A recent update has made the game look as impressive as any top-tier title on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

New Red Dead Redemption 2 Mod Gives the Game a Visual Overhaul

It’s clear that with Rockstar currently working on GTA 6, this update wasn’t created by the team behind Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead, it comes from the dedicated modding community.

I was checking out some Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay online, and wow, the modding community is incredible! Someone’s loaded up the game with over 100 mods, and the graphics are absolutely stunning. They even said it looks comparable to the trailers for Grand Theft Auto VI – seriously, it’s that good!

The video showcases beautiful scenery from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, including areas like the Heartlands, Cotorra Springs, the swamp, mountaintops, and a sunset over Guarma.

Many viewers showed their appreciation for Digital Dreams’ work on their Red Dead Redemption 2 mod in the video’s comments. One commenter said it looked “close to realism.” Another wrote, “Good job, I recently started playing it again, even without mods. The game still looks amazing – the textures are incredible. If rumors of a next-gen upgrade are true, only GTA VI could surpass it, and only Rockstar could outdo themselves.”

Like with any game that’s been heavily modified, some players might feel these changes to Red Dead Redemption 2 go too far. Many commenters on the video specifically mentioned they don’t like the altered colors.

One commenter noted the heartlands didn’t usually appear in that color, reminding them of older versions of Red Dead Redemption 2. Another person felt the original RDR2 with maximum settings looked better, criticizing the video for having too many colors and appearing both good and strange when compared to GTA 6.

Luckily, the color issues can be easily fixed by disabling some of the many modifications Digital Dreams used. However, most players won’t even be able to get the game to look like this in the first place.

Someone jokingly commented that all you need is about $7,000 to build the whole system – pretty wild, right? It just goes to show how much goes on behind the scenes!
