The comeback of the timeless detective series “Bergerac” has officially announced its launch date, meaning fans won’t have much longer to wait.
The TV series UKTV, which is modeled after a BBC show that originally aired from 1981 to 1991, will feature detective Jim Bergerac (played by Damien Molony) as he investigates a murder on the island of Jersey. At the same time, he grapples with personal issues and struggles from his past.
The opening installment of the six-episode series will debut on Thursday, February 27th at 9:00 PM, airing on U&Drama (as reported by TV Zone UK).
Alongside Molony, the ensemble for this series also features Zoë Wanamaker, Philip Glenister, Robert Gilbert, Pippa Haywood, Chloe Sweetlove, and Sasha Behar. The writing crew is made up of Toby Whithouse, Catherine Tregenna, Brian Fillas, and Polly Buckle.
The opening narrative introduces Jim Bergerac as a man struggling with personal turmoil and taking leave following his wife’s passing. However, when a high-profile murder occurs within one of Jersey’s elite families, Chief of Police Uma Dalal (Behar) insists on having her top detective handle the investigation.
In the storyline, Bergerac resumes his duties as a detective with the aim of restoring his former greatness. Simultaneously, he endeavors to demonstrate to his daughter Kim (Sweetlove) and mother-in-law Charlie Hungerford (Wanamaker) that his life is on a steady course once more.
The Wakefield family, headed by their father and entrepreneur Arthur (Glenister), are being secretive about their plans, while an old acquaintance from Bergerac’s past suddenly emerges to level a startling allegation against him. Can Bergerac handle the challenge?
In its initial run, the classic series known as “Bergerac” starred John Nettles prominently, spanning a total of 87 episodes over the course of nine seasons, along with six festive specials during the holiday season.
Bergerac will premiere on U&Drama on February 27.
