Rebel Wilson has stated that she did not ask for the creation of harmful websites targeting Amanda Ghost, the producer of The Deb, as part of their ongoing legal dispute.
The film’s lead actress, Charlotte MacInnes, has filed a lawsuit against Wilson, age 45, claiming defamation. The case was launched in the NSW division of the Federal Court and centers around a number of posts made on social media.
According to court documents obtained by NewsWire, Wilson reportedly posted claims that MacInnes, 26, was dishonest when she stated she hadn’t filed a complaint against Ghost, 51. This complaint, the posts allegedly said, included accusations of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct.
Wilson is also facing accusations that he suggested MacInnes altered her account of the supposed complaint. This suggestion, it’s claimed, was made to imply she was trying to secure a leading role in a Ghost production, and also a recording contract.
Oh my god, can you believe this? MacInnes is saying these claims are totally false and seriously damaging to her reputation, and now it’s coming out that Wilson allegedly asked her publicist to build a series of malicious websites all about Ghost! I mean, seriously? It’s just awful! I’m so upset for Ghost, this is just completely unacceptable behavior. I’ve been following Ghost for years, and this is just a horrible attack on her character.
I’ve been following this case closely, and I recently read the statement of claim that was filed with the Federal Court. NewsWire obtained a copy, and it lays out all the allegations in detail. It’s pretty serious stuff.

The alleged websites were said to have the URLs ‘amandaghost.com’ and ‘amandaghostsucks.com’.
They are also said to have made false and malicious claims against MacInnes and Ghost.
According to reports, a text message exchanged between staff at the PR firm working with Wilson said: ‘Oh my god lol OK this one will be fun.‘
In response to a query from Daily Mail regarding the websites, Wilson stated she had no involvement in their publication. She also mentioned her legal team played a key role – they were ‘instrumental’ – in successfully having the websites removed.
‘I obviously had nothing to do with the creation or publishing of any websites,’ she said.
Actually, my lawyers played a key role in getting those websites removed. They gave the other party a method to do so-by asserting that the sites were using a photo of me without permission, violating copyright law.
This explains how those websites were made inaccessible to the public. Claiming I was involved with them is, in my view, simply a tactic to distract from their own questionable actions.
They are aware that I wasn’t involved with these websites. However, it’s worth considering that, in my view, the information presented on them is likely accurate?

Yes, based on what I know and after talking to many people, I believe it’s probably true. You don’t have to look very hard to find that Ghost has a complicated past!” she added.
MacInnes’s lawyers sent Wilson a notice of concern in August. When Wilson reportedly didn’t reply within 28 days, they began legal proceedings on September 22.
This follows claims from Wilson’s fellow producers on her musical comedy, The Deb, that the actor is intentionally delaying the film’s release. They allege she’s doing this so she can purchase their shares for a lower price.
She is currently facing three lawsuits concerning the movie’s delayed launch, one of which is a potential defamation suit brought by MacInnes, the main actor in The Deb.
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this! Rebel Wilson is actually being sued! Apparently, three of the producers from Pitch Perfect are taking her to court for defamation in the US. And it gets worse – the production company, AI Film, is also trying to get money from her in the NSW Supreme Court! I’m so stressed for her, this is a nightmare! They’re seeking damages, which means they want her to pay them! I just… I can’t even process this. It’s awful! Seriously awful!
The Deb was created through a collaboration between AI Film and Wilson’s production company, Camp Sugar. Wilson not only directed the project but also played a leading role on screen.
To manage the rights to The Deb and share all earnings, Wilson and AI Film created a partnership called Dunburn Debutantes Commissioning Company (DDCC). Essentially, DDCC was formed as a joint venture between the two companies to handle these aspects.
Let me tell you, things really fell apart with this project. It all started when Wilson, reportedly, shared some really hurtful things on Instagram back in mid-2024. He supposedly made some derogatory posts targeting fellow producers – Ghost, Gregor Cameron, and Vince Holden – and honestly, that’s when everything started to unravel. It was a tough situation for everyone involved.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this situation closely. Rebel publicly shared accusations on her social media, claiming that three individuals engaged in sexual harassment, misused funds, and actively worked against the cinematic release of her first directorial project. It’s important to note that all three parties have strongly denied these allegations, and the situation is still developing. You can find more details here.
According to documents submitted to the NSW Supreme Court, AI Film claims that Wilson acted in a way intended to harm its business and standing. The legal claim states Wilson’s actions were ‘for the purpose of damaging [its] business and reputation’.
