Rebekah Vardy claims she faced ‘more scrutiny than murderers and paedophiles’ during Wagatha Christie trial with Coleen Rooney

In connection with the Wagatha Christie court case, Rebekah Vardy stated that she has been subjected to a level of examination and criticism that is typically reserved for individuals like murderers and pedophiles.

2019 found me caught up in a whirlwind as I, an ardent devotee, was embroiled in accusations of disclosing tales about the illustrious Coleen Rooney to The Sun newspaper. This allegation sent shockwaves through my world, and I vehemently refuted it, leading to a high-stakes legal confrontation that grabbed headlines.

43-year-old Rebekah experienced even more embarrassment after losing her defamation lawsuit, and in an additional setback last month, she was instructed to cover £1,190,000 of Coleen’s legal expenses.

Currently, the mother of five maintains that the response against her was excessively harsh, and she persists in asserting her innocence, continuing to voice her protests.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Rebekah asserted firmly: “I did not provide stories to The Sun newspaper, and that’s all there is to it.

Asserting that she received a particularly harsh treatment, she went on to say: “Indeed, I believe that both murderers and child molesters have faced significantly less examination than what I’ve experienced.

However, Rebekah found herself at ease now, her gaze set firmly on the future, especially eager for the arrival of a Netflix documentary featuring her spouse, Jamie.

Additionally, she disclosed that she maintains contact with her ex-agent, Caroline Watt, whom she alleges was the one who disseminated the stories about her without her knowledge or consent.

Caroline, too, possessed a smartphone loaded with incriminating data which ultimately sank to the depths of the North Sea – often referred to colloquially as ‘Davy Jones’s Locker’, in legal circles.

Rebekah argued that Coleen’s legal team acted unfairly and without justice by delivering documents to Caroline’s residence instead of using her attorneys, causing Caroline significant distress.

As a devoted follower, I didn’t offer testimony in the trial because I was considered unfit to deliver oral evidence, and so far, I haven’t shared any comments regarding this situation.

When informed that people wanted to know Caroline’s perspective on the matter, Rebekah pondered: “Perhaps there’s an alternative account entirely.

Over the moon, I still can’t believe it! Last month marked the end of our six-year long legal saga when Rebekah finally conceded to cover an astounding £1,190,000 of my legal expenses, along with an additional £212,266 in court assessment costs. And let me tell you, this monumental victory came after she lost that high-profile libel case against none other than the incredible Coleen! What a rollercoaster ride it’s been, but boy, was it worth it!

This takes the total Rebekah must pay to at least £1,402,266.20.

TopMob realizes that she previously covered part of the expense, to the tune of £800,000 four years back, as well as £100,000 in the previous year.

It’s stipulated in court orders from 2024 that Colleen should reimburse Rebekah £135,097.50 as costs. This amount will be deducted from what Rebekah owes.

According to court rulings from 2024, Colleen needs to pay Rebekah a total of £135,097.50 for costs. This money will be taken away from what Rebekah has to pay.

A trusted confidant shared with TopMob: “Rebekah feels immensely relieved as the protracted legal dispute she’s been involved in is finally nearing its conclusion.

‘She’s looking forward to putting the whole ordeal well and truly behind her.

Currently, she’s solely concentrating on the upcoming future. There are substantial plans in the pipeline that she’s eager to start executing right away.

In the year 2022, Colleen accumulated over £1.8 million in legal fees as she successfully fended off Rebekah’s lawsuit in a High Court case.

Following their defeat in the High Court case, Rebekah was instructed to cover 90% of Colleen’s legal expenses.

Earlier, her legal representative contended that Coleen’s group employed an all-inclusive method to determine the overall sum, including approximately £120,000 in expenses for which Coleen holds no claim.

Additionally, it was alleged that the bill encompassed expenses for one of the WAG’s staff members to reside at a high-end hotel (Nobu) and covered hefty costs for dinner, drinks, and minibar items.

The attorney pointed out that Coleen’s actual legal expenses amounting to £1,833,906.89 were more than thrice the previously agreed-upon cost limit of £540,779.07.

However, Coleen’s legal representative, Robin Dunne, contended that the accusation of dishonesty against them was undeniably excessive or unjustifiably strong.

The starting point for the well-known Wagatha Christie case was an intense, public letter penned by Coleen and shared on social media in October 2019, where she disclosed that she had taken up the role of a detective to uncover the source of leaked stories.

Colleen openly asserted that Rebekah’s account was the origin of three news articles containing fabricated information, which included:

1. Claims about Coleen traveling to Mexico for a ‘gender selection’ procedure.
2. Allegations that she was planning a comeback on TV.
3. Stories suggesting her basement had flooded at home.

These details were initially posted on Coleen’s private Instagram profile.

Afterward, Rebekah made an emotional appearance on ITV’s Loose Women in February 2020. During this appearance, she revealed that the tension from the disagreement led her to experience anxiety attacks that were so intense they required three hospitalizations.

Coleen chose not to continue discussing the issue publicly after seeing the emotional response.

In June 2020, four months after the initial incident, Rebekah initiated a lawsuit against Coleen over libel. Her legal team claimed that she had experienced severe emotional distress, pain, anxiety, and humiliation due to the post’s publication and the subsequent events.

In the heart-pounding return of the case to courtrooms in February 2022, a bombshell exchange of heated texts between Rebekah and her representative Caroline surfaced, with my legal team claiming these communications revolved around none other than me.

In May 2022, the women met in a court of law for the first time to present their testimonies, marking the start of the Wagatha Christie trial within the Royal Courts of Justice located in London.

In a turn of events, Coleen triumphed approximately a month later as Judge Steyn handed down her decision, discarding Rebekah’s claim and affirming that Coleen’s interpretation of her well-known accusatory note was mostly accurate.

As a loyal follower, I can rephrase that statement like this: While Coleen expressed her satisfaction with the court’s verdict being in her favor, Rebekah shared her profound sadness and dismay over the same decision.
