Rebekah and Jamie Vardy are following in Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s footsteps by documenting their lives in a new reality show for ITV.
The Vardys gives viewers a look into the couple’s personal life as they navigate a major change: moving overseas after 13 years with Leicester City.
Rebekah has spent the last five years navigating a challenging period in the UK, and while she’s looking forward to what’s next, her plans didn’t include a move to Italy with her four children.
While adjusting to her recent move and all the stress that comes with it, she’s been thinking about the difficulties she faced in the UK and is determined to move on from the public feud with Coleen Rooney – the so-called ‘Wagatha’ scandal.
This series captures all the ups and downs of starting a new family life – including stressful house hunting, emotional school transitions, and unexpected challenges along the way.
At 38 years old, Jamie is working hard to show everyone he’s still a capable player with US Cremonese, a team considered the underdog in Italy’s Serie A league.
Louise Major, who commissions entertainment and reality shows, expressed excitement about collaborating with the Vardys on this new series for ITV1 and ITVX.
This documentary offers a personal and honest look at a turning point in Jamie and Rebekah Vardy’s lives. It explores Jamie’s successful football career and the challenges they faced as a family when starting anew, with Rebekah openly discussing the highly publicized story that dominated headlines for years.
According to Dan Grabiner and Nat Lippiett, Executive Producers at Orchard Studios, the Vardys are a famously fun and engaging family. Their new show offers a unique, honest, and surprisingly unpredictable look behind the scenes of their lives and recent move. As they put it, viewers are invited to join ‘the Vardy party!’
This follows Coleen Rooney’s participation in the Disney+ documentary, ‘Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story,’ for which she reportedly received a substantial payment – ‘millions’ – to share her side of the dispute with Rebekah Vardy.
Four days after she publicly accused Rebekah of sharing her private stories with The Sun newspaper on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, the broadcast aired.
People familiar with the situation say Coleen received over £1 million after several companies competed to secure the rights to her four-part series.
The documentary was initially going to be shown on Netflix, but Disney was so determined to acquire it that they made an incredibly high offer.
Someone close to the situation said Coleen endured a very difficult and upsetting experience with Becky, and it was a truly challenging period for her and her family.
Her show was incredibly popular, with huge public interest. Coleen was the person the public felt most sorry for, and people were naturally eager to hear her personal story – it was bound to be compelling.
She was much more private than Becky, so there was always a lot to talk about when she finally did open up.
Even so, it’s a significant amount of money, and hopefully it helped her cope with losing those four years.
