In a recent disclosure, the star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Dolores Catania, shared that she underwent heart surgery due to atrial fibrillation (AFib) complications.

Dolores recalled that as a woman, we often dismiss discomforts as common occurrences, but this particular instance stood out to her as unique.

Following this incident, I began having recurring sensations similar to butterflies in my chest, occasionally disturbing my sleep during the night. Eventually, these episodes became so unsettling that I felt compelled to contact my heart specialist.

Originally, he provided me with a heart monitor to use, and just a few hours later, he contacted me to share that I had atrial fibrillation (AFib). Subsequently, he recommended I consult an electrophysiologist, who validated this diagnosis, as stated by the New Jersey-born reality star.

He said to me, “You’re not the same person I encountered two years back when you arrived here with Paul.” It might ring a bell that my partner, Paul Connell, was identified as having WPW (Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome) and he underwent an ablation procedure.

Dolores advises her followers wisely: ‘I’m passing this on as a reminder for you. The rapid or fluttering sensation in your chest while performing routine tasks during the day – that could be your body signaling something important. PLEASE DON’T DISMISS THIS. Atrial Fibrillation may heighten your chances of having a stroke or heart attack.’

She exclaimed: “I’m only six weeks past the procedure, but I feel like my old self again! I won’t need medications for much longer now, and thankfully, there have been no recurring incidents since then.

Dolores emphasized to her audience not to delay, recognizing that heart health deserves immediate attention. She shared that she felt secure under the care of her medical professionals and encouraged everyone to prioritize self-care, stating boldly, “You are worth it!

Her last name is derived from her former spouse, Frank Catania, who she was married to from 1994 to 1998. During this marriage, they had two children together.
