Before Wendy and Eddie Osefo were arrested for fraud on Thursday, Wendy had already reported a robbery at their home.
According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, The Real Housewives of Potomac star and her husband have been indicted by a Maryland grand jury on charges of insurance fraud, conspiring to commit insurance fraud, and lying to a police officer.
The couple reported that designer handbags and jewelry were stolen from their home during a burglary that supposedly happened in April 2024 while they were on vacation.
Police discovered that several items worth $20,000 had reportedly been returned to the stores where they were originally bought for a full refund before the robbery was even reported.
Last September, on the Gabbing With Gib podcast, Wendy spoke about what supposedly happened.
The incident occurred while my family was on spring break,” the 41-year-old Bravo star explained. “It was a trip with my children, and I was really upset about it.

Wendy and Eddie got married in 2011 and have three children: Karter, who is 12, Kruz, age 9, and Kamrynn, who is 6.
The reality star said the event happened just before she started filming Real Housewives and made her feel anxious.
It felt like a terrible invasion, completely out of the blue. What made it even worse was that, from both my perspective and the investigator’s, it seemed deliberately aimed at us.
The reality star expressed that the neighborhood had been relatively safe for many years.
For over twenty years, there hasn’t been a single break-in – it’s been completely safe. It’s incredibly upsetting, and honestly, what matters most to me is being a mother. My immediate concern was for my children.
Wendy described the burglary as deeply upsetting and said her home now feels like an impenetrable fortress.
The celebrity mentioned that a lot has changed in their life recently, especially how they use social media.
‘It’s altered the way I move and you want to be naive and feel like no one is watching you.’

Wendy explained that while it would be ideal to live without restrictions, current circumstances have significantly altered how things are.
The TV star and her husband, Eddie, reportedly told authorities that designer bags and jewelry were stolen from their house while they were on vacation in Jamaica.
However, police discovered that items worth $20,000 had reportedly been brought back to the stores where they were originally bought and fully refunded *before* the burglary was even reported.
Prosecutors allege that they filed an insurance claim for $450,000, stating they had suffered a personal property loss.
The Daily Mail has reached out to the couple for comment but did not immediately hear back.
After the reported burglary, Wendy supposedly posted a picture on social media wearing a diamond ring she had previously claimed was stolen.
During the investigation, police discovered the couple had returned items they claimed were stolen to the stores where they originally bought them, and received full refunds before reporting the burglary.
Wendy and her husband were released on Friday and released on a $50,000 bond.

Police stated at a press conference that the incident began on April 7, 2024, at approximately 10:13 PM when deputies were sent to the home following a 911 call from Eddie, who reported a possible burglary.
The couple reported a break-in at their home while they were on vacation in Jamaica, saying it happened sometime between April 2nd and 7th.
As a long-time follower of this case, it’s heartbreaking to hear about the theft. Apparently, over $200,000 worth of designer handbags and jewelry vanished from their bedroom. It wasn’t just a simple taking, though – the police described the room as completely ransacked, with the mattress even thrown onto the floor, seemingly to make it look like a break-in had definitely happened.
Okay, so I was *so* worried when they said something was off, but the police checked *everything*. They poured over the security footage from their house and even the neighbors’, and honestly? Nothing. Absolutely nothing showed anyone even *trying* to get in. It was like…it just happened, and there was no sign of a break-in at all. It’s so frustrating because I want to help, but the police said everything looked normal!
Detectives contacted the three insurance companies that previously covered Osefos’ property. It’s standard practice in cases like this for police to share information with insurers, according to a spokesperson.
The couple repeatedly reached out to detectives with details about the suspected theft, including evidence and a list of what was missing. They also filed a claim with their insurance company to cover their losses.
However, detectives discovered photos Candiace Dillard Bassett posted online several weeks after she reported a burglary. These photos showed her wearing jewelry – including a diamond anniversary ring – that appeared to be the same items she’d claimed were stolen.
Investigators reviewed receipts given to them by the couple, showing purchases of the missing items, with some receipts dating as far back as 2018.
The receipts were really what raised alarm bells.

The key piece of evidence was a list of email addresses, and further investigation confirmed their belief that the claim was fraudulent.
Police also claim the allegedly stolen items purchased in 2018 were returned in that same year.
According to police, records show purchases made in 2018, along with receipts submitted to the insurance company. These items were all returned – either to the buyer or the store – within the store’s 2018 return policy timeframe.
Essentially, since the return policy was 90 days in 2018, she returned the items before that period ended.
Police, while searching his accounts, found an email Eddie allegedly sent to his wife asking if they could include more expensive items on an inventory list. He was reportedly trying to reach a total value of $423,000, which appeared to be a limit set by company policy.
Detectives investigated and determined that the Osefos made up a story about a burglary and falsely reported it to their insurance company to try and commit fraud, police said.
A grand jury indicted the couple on several charges of fraud and making false statements, and they were arrested at their home on October 9th in the afternoon.

I was shocked to hear about the search of their home after the arrest. Apparently, detectives found fifteen more things they think were stolen – mostly jewelry and really expensive handbags. It’s just awful to think about everything that’s been taken from people.
Wendy’s representative announced on Friday that the couple has returned home and are prepared to face their upcoming court date.
Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward, are home safe with their family and doing well. A representative shared that they appreciate all the concern and support they’ve received from friends, fans, and coworkers.
The Osefos and their lawyers are eager to present their case in court. They kindly request privacy while they concentrate on their family and the ongoing legal matter.
