Real Housewives Of Orange County star Meghan King loses custody of kids to ex Jim Edmonds after CPS call

Meghan King, who used to be on The Real Housewives of Orange County, has reportedly lost custody of her kids to her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds.

According to sources at Us Weekly, 41-year-old King recently lost temporary custody of her three children with her ex, the 55-year-old former baseball player, while Child Protective Services investigated the situation.

I’ve been following this case closely, and it’s heartbreaking. Right now, it seems like Kate King can only see her kids – eight-year-old Aspen and her seven-year-old twins, Hart and Hayes – when someone is there with her. Unfortunately, Lance Edmonds currently has full, day-to-day care of all three children.

Edmonds’ spokesperson didn’t offer a statement, and King’s representatives haven’t replied to requests from the Daily Mail yet.

Recent news about the strained relationship between King and Edmonds follows a police visit earlier this year when King reportedly wouldn’t leave Edmonds’ house.

The couple married in 2014, but King filed for divorce in 2019. The divorce was completed in 2021.

According to one source, the call to Child Protective Services wasn’t made by Edmonds or his wife, Kortnie, who he married in 2022. Instead, it was reportedly made by someone working at the children’s school.

After the report, an investigation began, and King temporarily lost custody of his children.

Currently, King has only temporarily lost the ability to care for his children, and a court hearing in December will decide if this arrangement will become permanent. A source shared this information with the publication.

Edmonds lost custody of his children after an argument at his home with his fourth wife on May 1st.

According to a police report, King allegedly entered a home in Missouri multiple times on May 1st, causing a disruption. Kortnie Edmonds, the current wife of the person who reported the incident, was listed as the ‘victim’ who contacted the police.

Reality TV star King denies the accusations, stating she went to the house only to deliver clothes for the couple’s daughter.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Kortnie says King showed up at the house around 5 p.m. and rang the doorbell repeatedly.

Kortnie said she went to the door to pick up Aspen’s dress, which King was meant to have left there.

According to the report, Meghan didn’t give the dress to Kortnie and instead moved away, requesting to speak privately with her daughter.

‘Kortnie told Meghan that [her daughter] wasn’t home and she was at a baseball game with Jim’.

Kortnie said King seemed bothered, and then she asked him to leave the dress at the house before shutting the door.

As she returned to her office, she stated she heard Meghan yelling for her daughter from inside the house. Kortnie then went back to the front door and saw Meghan standing about five feet inside.

Kortnie reportedly told King to leave, and it’s claimed that Meghan slowly walked outside but briefly blocked the door with her foot, preventing Kortnie from closing it completely. Once Meghan moved her foot, Kortnie was able to close the door.

Initially, Kortnie decided not to file charges, but she later contacted the police and asked to pursue harassment charges.

Former baseball player Edmonds arrived at the house and informed police he had video of what happened.

According to court documents filed on June 6th, King and Kortnie reached an agreement stating that King must avoid all contact with Kortnie. They also agreed to maintain a distance of at least 150 feet from each other during any events involving their children, and King is prohibited from mentioning Kortnie on social media.

A source told Us Weekly King agreed to the order to ‘avoid prolonged litigation.’ 

On August 12 charges were ‘refused’ in the case and it was later reclassified as ‘inactive’.

Per the publication, Kortnie filed a restraining order against King after the incident. 

As officers responded to a call at the house, they received word that King was driving away in a Jeep. They spotted the vehicle and stopped her.

According to the report, Meghan spoke with her former husband, Jim Edmonds, that day to coordinate dropping off some clothes. She reached out to Jim’s wife, Kortnie Edmonds, to make the arrangements.

According to a source, King was traveling to St. Louis for an event when Edmonds contacted her about delivering Aspen’s communion dress. King agreed and requested to talk to their daughter when Edmonds arrived with the dress.

According to the source, Kortnie appeared very upset when she saw King and reportedly asked her to return the dress and leave right away.

I heard that King said he wouldn’t help, and actually told Kortnie she’d already talked to Jim about needing to reach Aspen. Apparently, that’s what made Kortnie call the police. It’s all a bit messy, honestly, and I’m just trying to piece together what happened from what I’ve been told.

According to Us Weekly, King refused the request and explained she had spoken with Jim—who wasn’t there at the time—about needing to discuss the situation with their daughter, ultimately leading Kortnie to call the police.

The source said police ‘deescalated the situation quickly’ and King was not arrested or detained. 

The Daily Mail reached out to both Meghan King’s team and the Frontenac Police for a statement.

A spokesperson for the King told the publication that reports about the incident were inaccurate and clarified that she did not enter the property.

I heard that Meghan quickly spoke to her daughter from the doorway, but didn’t actually go inside. Apparently, the door was slammed shut on her, and she just left her things on the porch. Then, to make things even worse, she was suddenly surrounded by police cars and treated really harshly – it sounded completely over the top and unfriendly.

According to a representative for King Charles, Meghan frequently found herself in a difficult position when interacting with Edmonds, and was more often the one negatively impacted than the other way around.

They also pointed out that Meghan has been the primary caregiver for her children for a while, with the other parent only involved at certain times.

Edmonds and Kortnie’s representative said they would ‘let the facts speak for themselves.’

When they married in 2014, King was Edmonds’ third wife. He was previously married to LeAnn Horton and has two daughters with her.

King and Edmonds welcomed three children together before splitting in 2019. 

In 2022, Edmonds married Kortnie O’Connor, who previously worked as a Playboy Bunny and was once friends with his ex-wife. The couple became engaged only two months after his divorce was completed.

Horton passed away in 2015 after battling colon cancer, and they had resolved any past conflicts. In fact, they were able to attend Horton’s wedding to King.

He married Allison Jayne Raski in 2008, and they had two children: a son named Landon and a daughter named Hutton. They divorced just before he married King in 2014.

King was deeply upset and felt betrayed when she discovered her husband was having an affair with Kortnie, a woman she considered a friend. She also revealed that she, her husband, and Kortnie had previously been intimate together.

The ex-couple has also been involved in public disagreements, most recently after Edmonds disputed King’s statement that their son, Hart, has cerebral palsy. Edmonds does admit that Hart has periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), a condition that causes damage to the white matter in the brain.

In October 2021, King married Cuffe Owens, a lawyer and the nephew of President Joe Biden.

However they split just two months later and the marriage was annulled by July 2022.
