In the ongoing journey with Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer, John Mellencamp is taking steps to prepare for her final wishes, specifically ensuring he understands where she would like to be laid to rest.

On Thursday evening, a local resident of Laguna Niguel named Stirling was stopped by police officers from Newport Beach due to a traffic infraction on his motorcycle, according to a statement issued by their department.

Following the stop, Stirling grew uncooperative and physically attacked the police officer. In the subsequent struggle, Stirling managed to grab the department’s taser from the officer’s belt and repeatedly tried to use it against the officer. This led to a police-involved shooting incident as stated by the department.

Emergency responders gave first aid at the scene, according to a statement. Subsequently, Stirling was declared deceased upon arrival at Hoag Hospital, escorted there by firefighters from the Newport Beach Fire Department.

I’m shocked that we’re going through such hardship only six months after my dearest friend and mother, Judy Stirling, passed away in October due to breast cancer,” McLaughlin wrote. “I believe they are now with Jesus, and He is guiding me through this difficult time, one step at a time.

“Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us.”

Back in March, Stirling faced charges for felony arson. His arraignment was set for Monday as per reports by The Pilot. However, it remains uncertain if the shooting incident had any link to this court appearance.
