Real Housewives of New Jersey star Margaret Josephs axed from series in major cast shakeup ahead of series reboot

Margaret Josephs, a star on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is leaving the show after being a cast member for seven seasons.

The 58-year-old business owner announced the news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, explaining that she wants to focus more on her family.

She said she’s been discussing the possibility with the network and Andy Cohen since December, and now feels like the right time to move forward.

Things have been really shifting for me lately, which is wonderful! I’m actually on set working on a new project right now. It’s made me realize how important it is to prioritize what truly matters – spending quality time with my family, dedicating myself to my design work, and simply taking the time to recharge and move forward. It’s all about finding that balance, you know?

Many were surprised to learn that Josephs was involved in recent test filming for a potential reboot of RHONJ, as reported by the Daily Mail. She was reportedly helping to evaluate potential new cast members.

After ending season 14 in 2024, Bravo has spent over a year working to revamp and restart the show, which was put on hold.

Jennifer Aydin, who became a cast member of RHONJ shortly after Dolores Josephs, recently shared that she was also let go from the show last year.

Many fans have been asking if I’m still part of the show, and I can truthfully say that no one has given me any information about it,” she shared with her followers in October.

I heard they’re doing test shoots, and I wasn’t asked to attend BravoCon. Considering that, I’m pretty sure I won’t be on the next season, but I’m fine with that.

It seems like companies are now just letting people go without any notice. Perhaps they find it too uncomfortable to have those conversations. I really have no idea.

Aydin recently launched a podcast, and Josephs is currently filming a new reality show for Amazon with a lot of famous faces.

Us Weekly reports that the new show, which doesn’t have a title yet, will include reality stars like Kenya Moore and Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Brittany Cartwright from The Valley, and Savannah and Julie Chrisley, plus a bunch of other well-known personalities.

The show is similar to Bravo’s ‘Girls Trip,’ but focuses on a journey of self-discovery, like the movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love’.

Since Josephs announced she was leaving the show, many people have shared heartfelt messages about her. Melissa Gorga, another star on the show, wrote that Josephs’ witty comments were always a highlight and that she supports her decision. Gorga also expressed excitement for what Josephs will do next.

I was so shocked when I read Danielle Cabral’s post! She was clearly upset about finding out something last, and she had the sweetest things to say to whoever she was talking to. Calling them the ‘GOAT’ and praising their epic exit really showed how much she cares. It’s so nice to see her sending love and wishing them peace – a really genuine message, honestly.

Jen Fessler shared a heartfelt message, thanking her friend for including her and expressing how much she valued being connected to Marge. She ended with a loving message.

Even Andy Cohen commented on the situation, tweeting, ‘Thank you! It’s been an amazing journey. And I’ve always loved your home and style!’

The fifteenth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey hasn’t begun filming, and it’s currently unknown whether Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice will be part of the cast.

As someone who follows these things closely, let me tell you, this whole situation with the show really started falling apart because of the tension between Teresa and Melissa. Their feud became so intense that, by the end of the last season, they simply couldn’t be in the same room – or on camera – together. It was a tough spot for everyone involved, and ultimately led to the show’s downfall.

However, the pair have made amends since the series was put on pause.

I’m so happy to hear Teresa say things are good with Joe and Melissa! She told people they’ve made up, and honestly, it’s a huge relief. As a longtime fan, seeing the family heal means a lot to me.

I made a point of calling my brother, and it was great to connect with him. We were both really happy to hear from each other. Having him, his wife, and my niece and nephews in my life is what matters most to me.

Dolores Catania will be appearing on the new Real Housewives of Rhode Island, joining the cast in a supporting role.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey isn’t the first franchise to temporarily stop filming – Bravo recently put production on hold for The Real Housewives of Miami as well.

Production on The Real Housewives of New York City was temporarily halted for a year, but filming for the next season has now resumed.
