Real Housewives of Miami put on pause as future of the show hangs in the air after low ratings

Bravo has stopped making new seasons of The Real Housewives of Miami after seven seasons, according to several reports.

I was absolutely devastated when the show ended in 2013, but I held onto hope! Thankfully, after a long break, it was brought back on Peacock in 2021, and I was thrilled to see it return to Bravo just two years later. It’s so good to have it back!

Although the show hasn’t been officially cancelled, there are currently no confirmed plans for a season eight. TMZ reports the network is considering either restarting the show with a fresh take or changing the cast.

The show’s comeback included familiar faces from the original cast, such as Larsa Pippen, a friend of Kim Kardashian, along with Adriana de Moura, Alexia Nepola (formerly Etcheverria), Lisa Hochstein, and Marysol Patton.

The show also added new cast members, including Julia Lemigova, a Russian model and the first lesbian Real Housewife, who is married to tennis legend Martina Navratilova.

According to Variety, The Real Housewives of Miami finished its seventh season in October with the lowest viewership numbers of all the shows in the ‘Real Housewives’ series.

Guerdy Abraira and Stephanie Shojaee joined Lemigova, Hochstein, Pippen, and Nepola to complete the main cast for season seven.

Patton and de Moura appeared on season seven as ‘Friends of the Housewives,’ while Nicole Martin was a regular guest star.

Sources are saying that The Real Housewives of Miami might be canceled due to issues with the cast. Reality Blurb was the first to report that the show was temporarily put on hold.

As a dedicated follower of all things Bravo, I remember when Alexia Nepola’s ex-husband, Todd, actually sued the network for $10 million, claiming defamation. It was a huge shock! But then, thankfully for everyone involved, he dropped the case completely in December – meaning he couldn’t bring it up again. It just vanished!

According to a source, some problems stem from Alexia’s situation, which is tied to Todd’s lawsuit and his departure from the show. Without Todd, her storyline would likely end, and that could impact the whole series.

According to a source familiar with the show, the producers have consistently failed to grasp the essence of Miami, which has caused issues with its production.

Producers were also criticized for showing favoritism and becoming too close to certain actors, which was hindering the necessary casting choices for the show.

According to that source, people readily believe things they’re told without checking if it’s true. Often, this leads to them accepting incorrect information.

Miami, according to the insider, is ‘much bigger than the microcosm of weirdos they have on that show’ and the ‘only ones who are truly representative of Miami are Alexia, Lisa Hochstein and perhaps Stephanie Shojaee.’

One source suggested the show’s production shutdown will likely be extended indefinitely, leading many to believe it’s been canceled.

According to a source, Bravo initially planned to replace four of the cast members with new ones, but they’ve since decided to put the show on hold instead of completely revamping it.

Earlier this month, Page Six reported rumors that Lemigova and Abraira could be let go, and that another cast member—one whose firing would be unexpected—might also be leaving the show.

Another source said Shojaee, who first appeared on the show in season seven, wasn’t completely decided about returning.
