Making a sequel to a successful horror film is tough, particularly when the original, like Ready or Not, is considered a classic horror comedy. Though the upcoming Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is highly anticipated, filming hasn’t been without problems. Samara Weaving experienced an unexpected moment on set that temporarily stopped production, not because of any lasting issues, but due to her genuine and immediate reaction to something that happened.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about her busy 2026 film schedule – including her return as Grace Macaulay in the upcoming sequel – Weaving recounted a funny story. While discussing the physically challenging nature of the role and some tough stunts, she shared how a small accident on set led to an embarrassing situation for everyone involved. She told the story while laughing, explaining that…
No, actually Kathryn accidentally hit me in the face. It didn’t hurt too badly, but it definitely stunned me. I reacted by saying a swear word – a particularly strong one! Everyone on set was concerned and asked if I was okay. I just completely lost it for a moment, and I guess that kind of language isn’t common in North America.
There was this really awkward pause after I said it, and it instantly hit me – what flies under the radar in Australia can be a much bigger deal here in North America, especially on a film set. I quickly realized I’d accidentally thrown everyone into a bit of a cultural misunderstanding, and they weren’t quite ready for it.

Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt during the incident, and there were no hard feelings among the cast. It mostly just caused a moment of surprise and became a funny story to tell later. The event really highlighted how physically demanding the making of Ready or Not 2 has been. The sequel jumps right after the first film ends, immediately putting Grace back in danger without a break. This fast pace and intricate action sequences also made things challenging on set, leaving little margin for mistakes.
The movie Ready or Not 2: Here I Come picks up after Grace MacCaullay survives a terrifying ordeal. She soon discovers her freedom came at a price: she’s now the target of a new, deadly game orchestrated by powerful, wealthy families who are betting their fortunes on the hunt. When Grace learns her younger sister is also in danger, she’s pulled back into the chaos.
Kathryn Newton has joined the cast as Faith MacCaullay, Grace’s sister. Faith’s predicament will put Grace back in harm’s way, and this time, someone Grace cares about will be at risk.

The lead actor says the new movie is even harder on Grace than the first one, which fans will probably enjoy. The issue with Newton wasn’t a big deal considering everything that’s happening with the last person who made it out of the original film.
The first trailer for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come suggests the sequel will be even more intense and action-packed than the original, with Sam Weaving facing bigger and more dangerous challenges. The movie will debut at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival between March 12th and 18th, 2026, and will be released in theaters across the country on March 27th, 2026.
