Reacher’s Alan Ritchson lands next lead movie role
As a gamer with a penchant for action-packed thrillers and a soft spot for 90’s Tony Scott films, the news about Alan Ritchson’s upcoming movie “Runner” has me absolutely stoked! With his impressive resume, including the role of Jack Reacher, it seems like he’s on a never-ending mission (pun intended) to dominate the silver screen.
Reacher star Alan Ritchson has landed his next lead movie role in upcoming action-thriller Runner.
As I eagerly anticipate, based on Deadline’s report, it seems this upcoming movie will delve into the story of a top-tier deliveryman tasked with a time-sensitive mission: transporting a lifesaving organ within a tight three-hour window to save a precious 7-year-old girl.
Yet, what initially appeared to be a routine task for the courier turned perilous as a ruthless crime boss developed an intense obsession with acquiring the organ.
Apart from acting in the movie, Ritchson will also take up a producer role together with Todd Garner, Dan Spilo, Mark Fasano, and Jeffrey Greenstein. The director of Expendables 4, Scott Waugh, has been confirmed for the director’s chair.
In Waugh’s statement, he compares a runner to an energetic actor like Alan Ritchson, saying they remind him of the Tony Scott action movies from the ’90s. He notes that these films were known for their focus on character and story, with the action serving as an impressive spectacle.
I’m absolutely thrilled about the opportunity to guide this incredibly engaging screenplay and breathe life into the pulse-pounding universe of ‘Runner’.
Filming is slated to begin in London next March.
Apart from his running-related projects, actor Ritchson is also set to appear in an upcoming romantic film titled “Counting Miracles.
The movie, a screen version of Nicholas Sparks’ titled book, is one of the films included in Ritchson’s three-picture contract with Amazon. Additionally, an upcoming Christmas comedy titled “The Man With The Bag”, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is also part of this deal.
Ritchson will appear in multiple upcoming projects: an action-comedy titled “Playdate”, Netflix’s sci-fi action movie known as “War Machine”, a drama set in the 70s called “Motor City, and he will reprise his role as Agent Aimes in the 11th installment of the “Fast & Furious” series.
Despite an already packed schedule, the actor is set to reprise his role as Jack Reacher in Reacher season three, and make a special appearance in the upcoming spin-off series titled Neagley.
