Reacher star Willa Fitzgerald felt “sick” over new movie Strange Darling
As a longtime fan of gripping thrillers and captivating performances, I can confidently say that Willa Fitzgerald‘s portrayal of the enigmatic Lady in Strange Darling is one for the books. With her electrifying performance and the movie’s intricate plot twists, it’s no wonder this film debuted with a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Actress Willa Fitzgerald, who is known for her role as Reacher, graces our screens once again in the latest film titled “Strange Darling”. This part was one that she had been eagerly anticipating playing.
In this highly praised thriller, the leading actress portrays a woman who’s being pursued by the Beast (Kyle Gallner) across the wilderness at the film’s start. However, appearances can be deceptive as the Beast gets closer to his target.
In conversation with Digital Spy, Fitzgerald expressed that the script penned by JT Mollner (who also directed the film) was unlike any she had read before. The moment she encountered it, she felt an immediate desire to accept the demanding part.
She remembered vividly that when she initially read the script, it felt as if she might get queasy, such was her strong desire to perform the role.
Typically, when there’s a powerful attraction towards something, it often leads to unexpected job opportunities. In my case, I felt an overwhelming urge to portray this character and be part of this film, which seemed to materialize out of the blue.
“It was just a delight for it to come to fruition.”
The instinct proved successful when “Strange Darling” launched with a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, a position it held until quite recently, having premiered at the Fantastic Fest last year.
To catch the upcoming UK thriller, you’ll need to exercise some patience as it won’t be shown in theaters until September 20th. But excitingly, it’s premiering in Europe this very weekend at London’s FrightFest on Saturday, the 24th of August.
In the third season of Reacher, it’s unlikely we’ll spot Fitzgerald. However, she will appear in a new series similar to Grey’s Anatomy, titled Pulse, which is coming soon on Netflix.
Strange Darling is out now in US cinemas, and is released in UK cinemas on September 20.
