Reacher star Alan Ritchson reveals he was knocked unconscious while filming epic fight scene in season finale
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but feel a thrill when I learned that Alan Ritchson, our beloved Reacher on screen, shared an intense experience during the filming of the spectacular season three finale. He confessed to being knocked unconscious! The adrenaline rush from such close proximity to the action is overwhelming!
In Lee Child’s novel “Persuader,” the third book in the series, Jack Reacher (played by Ritchson) took on an undercover role to scrutinize a questionable rug trading enterprise. However, it was later unveiled that this business served as a cover for some highly illicit activities.
During the final episode, Reacher engaged in a grueling fight with Paulie (played by Olivier Richters), a spectacle that left viewers spellbound. However, it’s important to note that despite the well-choreographed nature of the confrontation, Ritchson revealed the genuine aftermath of executing his own stunts in real life.

He shared with Entertainment Weekly that the main thing to focus on is seeing Reacher being flattened for a continuous five minutes. Hearing this, he found it enjoyable and expressed, “I appreciate that this is the current concept everyone’s working on.
I thought of performing a stunt in a unique manner, as I felt it was important for the audience to understand that I was doing this not only for Reacher but also for all of us. So, I wanted the camera to focus solely on my face during the scene where I would be slammed through a table on the barn floor.
Instead of the original sentence, you could say: Despite warnings from his team about potential dangers, the performer chose to do the dangerous stunt anyway.
In simpler terms, “They said, ‘You’ll be killed and we won’t do that because it will hurt you severely.’ Instead, we’ll use a stuntman and film from the ground. But I responded, ‘No.’
Following my triumph in the intense bout, my team issued a firm reminder, essentially saying, “Look, you can’t afford to meet your end here, for we prophesied your demise, and we made every attempt to give you fair warning.
In this instance, the scene portrayed Jack Reacher being forcefully thrust against a table, with the performing artist likening it to entering the depths of the underworld’s seventh level. This impact rendered him unconscious for approximately thirty-six hours.
In a difficult moment, he shared: Upon regaining consciousness, I found it necessary to assure my children that I was feeling well, as they were on set at the time. I didn’t want them to believe their father had passed away and would be unwell. Those were the most challenging minutes of my life.
He mentioned, “For the past three weeks, I’ve been engaged in that battle. To put it into perspective, out of the 28 minutes of experience, only one brief moment, lasting just three seconds, encapsulates what my life felt like during those three weeks. It was quite entertaining.
Reacher seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video.
