Reacher star Alan Ritchson is NOT charged as police determine he punched neighbor in self defense

The Alan Ritchson bloody street brawl in Tennessee just got another twist.

Police told The Daily Mail on Tuesday that the actor known for playing Reacher won’t face charges after a Sunday disagreement with his neighbor, Ronnie Taylor.

Police stated the actor acted in self-defense when he punched his neighbor and told him to back off.

A recently released bodycam video, shared on TikTok by Ritchson, appears to show Taylor starting a physical altercation. The video shows Taylor running into the street and then Ritchson pushing him off his Kawasaki motorcycle.

The star was with his two children when the incident occurred during the afternoon.

On Tuesday, the Brentwood Police Department told The Daily Mail they’ve finished investigating the March 22nd incident involving Alan Ritchson and Ronnie Taylor. The investigation was conducted in partnership with the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office.

After looking at all the evidence, such as videos and what people saw, officials have decided not to file any criminal charges.

I was so relieved to hear that the investigation concluded Mr. Ritchson acted in self-defense. There was talk of a possible reckless endangerment charge, but thankfully, he decided not to press charges against anyone involved. It’s a good outcome, and I’m glad it was handled this way.

The District Attorney’s Office has agreed to close the case, so it won’t be investigated further.

The bodycam video provides a clearer picture of the events leading up to the violent fight between the two men.

Taylor, looking upset, was caught on video walking up to actor Alan Ritchson, 43, and his two young kids while they were riding motorcycles in their neighborhood.

Taylor walked out of his yard, across the sidewalk, and into the street just as the actor was riding his green Kawasaki motorcycle.

Taylor reportedly stood directly in front of the motorcycle, spreading their legs to prevent the rider from passing.

That appeared to anger Ritchson, who then laid down his motorcycle and approached Taylor.

Let me tell you, witnessing that interaction was pretty intense! Taylor was clearly upset with Ritchson, letting him know he was driving way too recklessly – and rightfully so, considering there were kids around. She didn’t hold back, expressing her worry about the danger he was creating for everyone in the neighborhood.

The video footage showed the actor then angrily questioned his neighbor, asking if he’d been drinking and accusing him of being irrational.

Let me tell you, I was shocked to hear about this situation. Apparently, Ritchson advised Taylor to actually run over his neighbor with a motorcycle when the neighbor simply walked out onto the street. It’s a really aggressive and frankly, disturbing thing to suggest, and highlights a serious escalation of conflict. It’s never okay to even joke about harming someone, and that advice was completely out of line.

Honestly, watching this unfold, it’s clear he’s deliberately trying to get a rise out of Taylor. He hops on his motorcycle, puts his helmet on, and then just repeatedly revs the engine – it’s a classic move to push her buttons, and you can see she’s getting increasingly frustrated with it. It’s all about the power dynamic, and he knows exactly what he’s doing!

Taylor could then be seen pushing the actor and his motorcycle onto the street twice.

Ritchson reportedly punched Taylor in the face multiple times, and then told him to stay down.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Ritchson and Taylor for further comment.

TMZ has obtained an image of Taylor with bruises and cuts to his face after the fight.

The initial video of the altercation, captured from a nearby home, shows Ritchson seemingly hitting the alleged victim while two children, reportedly his sons, watch from their motorbikes.

The video shows the actor, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and has previously discussed his bipolar disorder, hitting Taylor repeatedly while she was on the ground.

Taylor explained to TMZ that the situation began on Saturday when Ritchson was driving his green Kawasaki motorcycle through their peaceful, affluent neighborhood.

Taylor claimed the performer was speeding, revving their engine loudly, and creating a disturbance.

The neighbor said he flipped Ritchson off, and the actor responded in kind.

The next day, around noon, Ritchson rode through the neighborhood again. This time, he was with two children on bikes, and reportedly drove too fast.

Taylor asked Ritchson, ‘Can you f*****g stop this please,’ which is when the situation escalated.

The man who reported the incident said Ritchson hit him in the face and kicked him, according to his police report.

He said the actor fell off his bike, then got up and tried to hit him with it.

Taylor claimed Ritchson struck him multiple times, including at least once in the back of the head.

He stated that the incident, which neighbors apparently saw, resulted in bruises and swelling, but he didn’t seek medical attention at a hospital.

The video shows Ritchson retrieving his helmet and motorcycle after a reported attack on Taylor.

He lost control of the bicycle, causing it to ride onto the grass. At the same time, Taylor was seen picking something up and approaching Ritchson, before walking away again. Ritchson then remounted his bike and rode off, with the two children following behind.

Alan Ritchson and his wife, Catherine, who he married in 2006 after meeting in a college dance class, have three sons together.

His other television credits include Smallville, Blue Mountain State, Blood Drive, and Titans.

He’s known for his roles in several films, including Raphael in the 2014 and 2016 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies. He also appeared in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), Lazer Team (2015), and Fast X (2023).

In 2024, Jack Ritchson shared that he had tried to end his life in 2019, but thinking about his sons gave him a reason to keep going.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson shared that he struggled with severe depression and had to complete editing his first film as director, Dark Web: Cicada 3301, while confined to bed.

After the suicide attempt, he sought help from a doctor who diagnosed him with bipolar disorder.

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder shortly after, and honestly, it was a relief to finally understand what was happening and have a name for it.

A friend recommended he and his wife, Catherine, try therapy involving MDMA. He described it as a turning point, saying it fundamentally changed his thinking for the better. MDMA has been shown to effectively treat PTSD, especially in veterans, and can be a helpful addition to traditional talk therapy.

The therapy session helped him think deeply about his life and realize he wants to ‘make the world a better place and help others.’ This realization led him to search for more meaningful work, which eventually resulted in him landing the role in the TV series Reacher.

In his interview, Ritchson revealed he experienced sexual assault during his time as a model.
