Reacher Characters Ranked: You Won’t BELIEVE Who’s Last!

Things are looking promising for the Reacher series so far. Prime Video’s adaptation of Lee Child’s novels has found great success, and it seems like things will continue to improve. Although some may question the show’s logical consistency, fans of the books have been satisfied with how closely the seasons follow the source material. Even casual viewers have found plenty to appreciate, thanks to the intriguing storylines and abundance of action scenes.

The majority of the primary characters from the books have been transferred to the show, but there have been adjustments to accommodate them for television. For instance, Neagley is not present in the novel “Killing Floor,” which serves as the basis for Season 1. Instead, she makes an early appearance in the series. Similar changes have been made with other main characters, some of whom are fascinating but may not be particularly likable.

15
Least Likable: Xavier Quinn

If we were to imagine a child born from Satan and Lilith, Xavier Quinn might just be that character. Driven by an insatiable greed for money, this former U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel made a traitorous move by trading military secrets. Over time, he transformed into a formidable arms dealer. Beyond this, Quinn is portrayed as manipulating Zachary Beck, leveraging the man’s rug import business to secretly transport weapons.

The Worst Form of a Human

In one of television’s most poignant scenes, it’s Quinn who orchestrates a heart-wrenching death. Regret may wash over him countless times, but redemption seems impossible for a character like him. The moment when Reacher discovers Kohl’s demise is an agonizing one for even the most hardened viewers. And it only gets more distressing. Not only does Quinn actively participate in cruel acts such as mutilation and torture, but he also engages in the trafficking of women. Fortunately, he eventually faces the consequences of his actions.

14
KJ Klinner

Initially, KJ appears as if he’s the usual child from a privileged background ready to boast about his grand mansion. Being the son of Kliner Sr., the affluent industrialist involved in Margrave’s counterfeit money scheme, he carries an air of superiority, believing the world revolves around him. However, he’s not merely a pampered brat with the intelligence of an ant. In fact, KJ masterminds several murders, even that of his own father, and takes control of the criminal empire.

Rich and Soulless

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but feel that it takes an extraordinary kind of disturbed individual to commit such an abhorrent act – taking the life of one’s own father. Regardless of Kliner Sr.’s questionable character, his son, KJ, will never find forgiveness for what he did. We all despise bullies, and KJ certainly fits that bill. The way he torments Roscoe is infuriating to watch. If given the chance, I believe many of us would retaliate against him, seeking solace in the protective shadow of Reacher.

13
Paul “Paulie” Van Hoven

Standing towering at 7 feet 2 inches, Paulie is as menacing as one could be. However, he is merely Zachary Beck’s right-hand man, though unbeknownst to many, he is being manipulated by Xavier Quinn. Paulie holds a profound animosity towards Reacher, and after several heated encounters, they find themselves engaged in a brutal fight, replete with choking, jaw-breaking, and numerous other excruciating moves.

Could Have Used His Height for Better Things

In a different scenario, we would have appreciated Paulie more if he had a career as an NBA player. Regrettably, he seems content with following commands from wealthy crime bosses. It’s unfortunate. It’s also regrettable that such a giant can’t defeat a man much smaller than himself. However, it must be said, it was amusing to see Reacher appearing small in the presence of another. Nevertheless, Reacher eventually demonstrates that fighting is about skill, not size.

12
Shane Langston

Represented by the esteemed actor Robert Patrick, Shane Langston transitions from his former role as a NYPD detective to become the morally questionable head of security at New Age Technologies, a private defense contractor. Following the recruitment of other discontented officers, Langston begins orchestrating illegal weapons transactions.

Likeable Actor, Detestable Character

Robert Patrick consistently shines in portraying antagonists, and he does it flawlessly once more in “Reacher.” We admire his acting skills, but the characters he plays often provoke strong feelings of annoyance within us. Langston is no exception. It seems rather foolish of him to arrange the killing of Calvin Franz, a former member of Reacher’s 110th Military Police Special Investigations Unit. In the end, Langson meets the typical fate of the villain: being thrown out of a helicopter.

11
Susan Duffy

In a more casual and simplified manner: Susan Duffy was supposed to be the romantic interest for Jack Reacher, similar to Lois Lane and Clark Kent, but their connection didn’t feel right. In Season 3, Susan is a DEA Special Agent from Boston who’s on a mission to take down Zachary Beck’s criminal organization and locate missing agent Teresa Daniels. She enlists the aid of Jack Reacher for this task, allowing them to combine business with pleasure.

No Romeo and Juliet Story

Duffy is a top-notch agent, yet she lacks charisma. She might be more appealing if she hadn’t been compelled to work alongside Reacher. Duffy and Reacher make an unappealing TV pairing not due to hostility but because their bond seems insubstantial. The way they part ways at the end of the season is also quite uncomfortable. The show could have been improved without this romantic angle.

10
Zachary Beck

Zachary Beck runs Bizarre Bazaar, a rug import company in Maine that acts as a cover for Xavier Quinn’s illegal arms trade. Since Quinn holds significant influence over Beck, he mostly spends his time venting and expressing frustration.

Father of the Year?

In the series, I’ve found that Beck’s unwavering dedication and selfless actions towards his son, Richard, have made him an admirable figure for me. His commitment to safeguarding his son is evident in every episode, and it’s clear that he would do anything for Richard, even giving up his life as shown in the Season 3 finale. However, it’s unfortunate that Beck, despite his exceptional parenting skills, comes across as somewhat one-dimensional, lacking depth and complexity in his character.

9
Guy Russo

Detective Guy Russo, working within the NYPD’s Homicide Squad, stands out in Season 2. His role is to unravel the mystery surrounding Calvin Franz’s death, a past colleague of Jack Reacher in his 110th Special Investigations Unit. Throughout the investigation, he frequently butts heads with the main character. However, as events unfold, they find a way to cooperate effectively.

Tough Cop with Attitude Problems

A person who selflessly puts themselves in harm’s way to shield a young girl from would-be killers will forever earn the respect of their admirers. Regrettably, much like Beck, Russo possesses one notable trait: his compassion. He is often unapproachable and headstrong, which explains why he persists with the case despite it becoming risky. However, this makes him a genuine hero, a title that can never be stripped from him.

8
Karla Dixon

In Season 2, Karla Dixon is presented as a veteran U.S. Army Major and an original member of Jack Reacher’s 110th Military Police Special Investigations Unit. Her strengths lie in financial crime analysis and undercover operations, making her highly valuable during the probe into Calvin Franz’s demise.

A True Team Player

From Dixon, one doesn’t learn much beyond the fact that she’s a decent individual. She consistently fulfills her duties and remains a reliable team player. Dixon and Reacher share a deep respect for each other, hinting at a potential romantic connection, although this aspect is not fully developed in the story. We can only imagine what an extraordinary pair they could have made.

7
Guillermo Villanueva

Guillermo Villanueva is an experienced DEA agent nearing retirement, serving more as a mentor and guiding figure for Susan Duffy. He’s content to let her take charge, but in Season 3, he assumes a crucial part in the operation aimed at dismantling Zachary Beck and Xavier Quinn’s criminal enterprises.

Forever Nice

Every captivating detective-focused film or series often includes a character akin to Guillermo, a seasoned law enforcer who’s easygoing and avoids causing trouble for the junior officers. While he may not significantly contribute to the plot, his presence adds a sense of comfort and tranquility to the storyline. It’s delightful watching him survive through each season unharmed.

6
Richard Beck

Zachary Beck’s child, Richard, develops a wonderful relationship with Reacher following the character’s infiltration into Zachary’s household. Despite being aware of his father’s deep involvement in illicit activities, Richard maintains his affection for him and strives to avoid any trouble himself.

Caught Up in Daddy’s Mess

Richard’s innocence endears him to people right away, as he yearns for a typical life. In the series, Persuader, it is primarily Richard’s mother who drives most of the young characters’ narratives. In the adaptation, his mother is depicted as deceased, which may have disappointed fans of the original work. However, Richard plays an essential role by highlighting Reacher’s protective and caring side, making him seem more empathetic and conscientious than ever before.
