Re-themed Rockin Rollercoaster will be a hit if Disney includes these Muppet favorites
As a lifelong Disney enthusiast who has seen more than my fair share of theme park iterations, I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and excitement as Hollywood Studios undergoes another transformation. The Rock ‘n Rollercoaster, a staple of my adrenaline-fueled escapades, is getting a Muppet makeover, and while I’ll miss the Aerosmith backstage passes, I’m intrigued by this new chapter.
Until quite recently, a section of Hollywood Studios carried a rock ‘n roll theme. However, this is set to change since Disney announced last month that the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster will be getting a new theme.
Instead of receiving Aerosmith backstage passes at the last stage before dashing off to the concert through an alleyway, fans used to experience, which was noisy, swift, and somewhat old-fashioned, now undergo a Muppet-style transformation.
For quite some time now, I’ve been pounding my hands on the table in frustration over the persistence of Muppet Vision 3D on the other side of the park. So, when Disney confirmed its permanent closure, it was a relief as I could finally ease the tension in my hands. To clarify, I am a big fan of The Muppets, but that specific production just didn’t resonate with me at all.
Monsters, Inc. is set to occupy that area, and I’m still a bit ambivalent about it, but if The Muppets are in charge at Rock’n, I can live with that – as long as Disney incorporates Statler and Waldorf, the two hilarious old gents who were the highlight of Muppets 3D.
Instead of keeping the exact same experience, there’ll be modifications in the music and decorations for the ride. This is Disney’s chance to pay tribute to the classic version while making some exciting improvements.
The addition of Statler and Waldorf would change the ride for the better.
At the conclusion of the attraction, instead of two older gentlemen might say something like, “Amazing how swift it was! Hard to imagine they waited so long in line,” or “Thank goodness you didn’t endure that 3D spectacle!”, or even “Remember Aerosmith? Wish they were still performing!
For an unforgettable touch, consider incorporating elements that pay homage to Hollywood’s rich past, the ride’s history, and The Muppets’ humor. To enhance the experience further, have the ride announce something unique after each spin, similar to the varied music tracks in Guardians of the Galaxy, ensuring every ride is slightly different from the last.
