Rayman Series Return Currently in Early ‘Exploration’ Phase at Ubisoft
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of pixel-pushing, controller-grasping adventures under my belt, I must say that the potential return of Rayman sends shivers of nostalgia down my spine. The memories of bouncing, sliding, and punching through the vibrant worlds of Rayman Legends still resonate in my gaming soul. The news that Ubisoft is exploring a comeback for this beloved franchise has me eagerly awaiting updates with bated breath.
Over a decade has passed since we last encountered Rayman in the fantastic game “Rayman Legends”. There’s optimism that he might make a comeback, as Ubisoft is considering methods for reviving the franchise.
A Ubisoft representative has shared that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently delving into a preliminary phase with the Rayman brand. At this point, the project is in its initial development, and further information will be disclosed at a later time.
Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil, is currently serving as a consultant for the upcoming Rayman revival, aiming to maintain coherence within the universe. Notably, Michel left Ubisoft in 2020, resulting in the selection of a new Creative director for Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Regarding the team responsible for Rayman’s comeback, their status is uncertain at this time, following speculation about the possible disbandment of Ubisoft Montpellier, due to disappointing sales of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. It appears that a follow-up to this game has been canceled.
In 2013, we had Rayman Legends as the latest installment of the series, following closely behind the outstanding game, Rayman Origins, released in 2011.
