Raye, who hails from Tooting and was brought up by a mother of Ghanaian-Swiss and an English father, started his singing journey in the church choir.
When she was 14 years old, she got admitted to the Brit School for Performing Arts. However, she left after spending only two years there, explaining that she felt ‘restricted’.
In the year 2016, at just 19 years old, she initially gained recognition as a result of her appearance on Jax Jones’s “You Don’t Know Me.” This song reached the third spot on the UK singles chart.
However, it was disclosed in 2021 that even though her contract with record label Polydor dated back seven years, they had never released any of her albums.
