As a fan of Julio Foolio’s music, I was deeply saddened to hear about his untimely death at the age of 26. The news came as a shock, especially after learning that it occurred following a birthday pool party and a request from authorities for him to vacate the premises due to overcrowding.
In Tampa, Florida, over the weekend, rap artist Julio Foolio (born Charles Jones) was tragically taken from us following a birthday pool celebration, according to authorities. The unfortunate incident occurred on the day of his 26th birthday.
Early Sunday morning around 4:40 a.m., I received an unsettling phone call to the Tampa police department. The caller reported a disturbing incident taking place in a hotel parking lot – a shooting.
The day before, Jones posted videos on Instagram Story showing him throwing a party at an Airbnb, as captured by Fox 13’s footage. Later, the New York Times reported that his lawyer, Lewis Fusco, revealed that police requested Jones to leave due to the event surpassing the permitted occupancy level.
After that, Jones moved to Home2 Suites by Hilton in Tampa. Upon their arrival, the police discovered two cars with gunshot wounds, as stated in a press release from the Tampa Police Department. Jones was later recognized as the deceased individual by the authorities.
Three individuals, yet to be named by the authorities, were among those harmed in the shooting incident. Currently receiving care at a hospital, their conditions are reported as stable and improving.
The police are currently looking into the events that preceded the shooting and aiming to find those involved. (This version maintains the original meaning but uses simpler, more conversational language.)
Fusco Law Group did not immediately respond to The Times’ request for comment.
Fusco on Sunday mourned Jones’ death on his Instagram Story.
As a movie buff, I had the privilege of knowing Charles Jones beyond his controversial rapper and entertainer persona. He was a kid from humble beginnings who faced adversity at every turn but refused to let it define him. Determined to defy the odds, he poured all his energy into pursuing greatness in everything he did. His life story is one of resilience and an unyielding desire to overcome obstacles.
I was astounded to discover that Jones boasted an impressive following of almost a million monthly listeners on Spotify prior to his passing. Amongst his most popular hits were “Voo Doo” and the captivating tracks “Play With Me” and “Dead Opps Pt. 2.”
In April, Jones dropped his mixtape named “Resurrection.” He penned down in the liner notes how he endured numerous attempts on my life. Sadly, I’ve lost dear ones to the cold embrace of jails and graveyards.
“My tape…is a reflection of everything I been threw [sic],” he said. “I hope y’all can relate.”
