Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello headlines immigrant rights benefit at Echoplex

Following a rowdy nationwide series of “No Kings” demonstrations, particularly in Los Angeles, over the weekend, musical immigrant advocates have arranged a charity concert this evening at Echo Park.

On Monday, Tom Morello, a renowned guitarist from Rage Against the Machine, activist for leftist causes and human rights, will lead a sold-out event titled “Defend L.A.” at the Echoplex. The show is being held in support of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA).

This show will highlight individuals with similar perspectives, such as B-Real from Cypress Hill, Pussy Riot, K.Flay, and artist Shepard Fairey. The Neighborhood Kids, a burgeoning San Diego hip-hop group that has been vocal about the local realities of communities impacted by immigration raids, will give their biggest Los Angeles performance there. Comedian George Lopez will emcee the event.

Following these marches, the Trump administration has been planning to broaden immigration raids in cities like Los Angeles that offer sanctuary.
