Rafe Spall will play Sherlock Holmes in a new, realistic drama about the famous detective. Titled The Death of Sherlock Holmes, the show will reveal what happened in the period between Holmes’s apparent death at Reichenbach Falls and his eventual reappearance.
The new Sky series covers the three years that were previously unknown in the story. It’s set in the Swiss Alps, where a man is found nearly frozen in a mountain stream. He’s rescued by a local woman named Alma and her son, Franz.
After the village doctor is murdered, the townspeople immediately suspect a young boy. Only a mysterious stranger, who has no memory of who he is, believes he might be able to help. Despite his amnesia, the man occasionally demonstrates brilliant detective skills, hinting at a secret past.

Haunted by returning memories, he begins to question his own identity. What starts as a strange mystery in the Alps quickly becomes a larger conspiracy, leading him closer to uncovering his past – and a famous name he might have once known.
In addition to Timothy Spall, Deleila Piasko from Transatlantic has joined the cast, and filming is already underway.
