Radiohead fans left ‘devastated’ as they miss out on tickets to band’s first tour in seven years as glaring issue with presale is revealed

As an ardent Radiohead fan, I’m preparing myself for potential letdowns when ticket sales for their 2025 UK and Ireland tour begin on Friday.

The group that came together back in 1985 as a rock band is scheduled to perform at the O2 Arena in London this coming November, playing across four concerts.

Enthusiastic followers were given the opportunity to sign up for a special access ‘passcode’ to secure their tickets ahead of the public sale, which was set for Friday.

It turns out that there are actually more access codes than presale tickets available, leaving many fans without a chance to secure one.

In this event, the organizer expects to issue around 120% of the total ticket count for each venue as Unlock Codes. This means there could be slightly more Unlock Codes than actual tickets for a given venue and performance.

In simpler terms, this implies that more unlock codes will be available than there are spots at the venue.

Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Radiohead for comment.

Although not all fans with an access code will manage to obtain tickets, due to the high volume of available codes, some purchasers might end up acquiring just one, two, or three tickets instead of the maximum four allowed per ticket code.

Some enthusiasts have turned to the online forum Reddit to try calculating things and share their ideas, with many posting their theories.

It could be proposed that if a venue can accommodate 100 individuals over four consecutive nights, they might issue 100 multiplied by 120 percent (which equals 120) times 4, resulting in 480 unlock codes. In simpler terms, for each night, they might increase the capacity by 20% and provide access to 120 people. Therefore, over four nights, this would amount to a total of 480 potential attendees.

‘A lot of people will be trying to buy only a few tickets each, accounting for about 120% of the venue’s capacity. It seems that approximately 25-30% of them might succeed in getting tickets with codes.’

Currently, the band is encountering protests from supporters of Palestine due to their guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, playing in Tel Aviv, which has led to calls for a boycott.

Supporters of Palestine have expressed their intention to avoid attending a concert tour, following Jonny Greenwood’s performance in Israel last May.

In 2024, Greenwood performed at The Barby Club in Tel Aviv alongside Israeli artist Dudu Tassa, a fellow musician with whom he had previously worked on their 2023 joint album titled “Jarak Qaribak.

The album contained adaptations of traditional Middle Eastern love songs, some of which were recorded in Tel Aviv and Oxfordshire. Notably, it boasted musicians hailing from countries like Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Iraq within its ensemble.

Previously, Greenwood explained his decision to perform with Tassa in European festivals by stating: “I’ve been making music alongside Dudu since 2008, and our collaboration goes back even further than that on a personal level.

It seems valuable to me to conceive a creative endeavor that brings together Arab and Jewish artists. Moreover, a project that highlights the deep Jewish heritage in nations such as Iraq and Yemen, dating back millennia, carries significant importance.

He stated: ‘Suppressing Israeli artists simply because they are Jewish, born in Israel, doesn’t appear to be a productive means of finding common ground in what seems like an unending dispute between the two parties.’

Back in the early part of this very year, I found myself brimming with excitement over the planned concerts by the duo, Greenwood and Tassa. Sadly, my heart sank when rumors surfaced about genuine menaces targeted at those performances, causing their unfortunate cancellation.

Greenwood expressed concerns back then about conservative individuals potentially misusing the cancelation, just as he regretted its enthusiastic embrace by certain progressives.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I was there in Tel Aviv back in July 2017, witnessing the epic performance by the legendary band Radiohead during their final tour. Despite the passionate pleas urging them to call off the show, they graced the stage and delivered an unforgettable experience.
