Radio star slams new current affairs show 10 News+ after lacklustre premiere: ‘It missed the mark’
10 News+, the latest current affairs offering from Channel Ten, premiered on Monday evening following the cancellation of The Project.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my disappointment when the anticipated ‘classy’ news series fell short of impressing the legendary radio host, Kyle Sandilands.
On Tuesday, the radio host of KIIS FM, aged 54, criticized the initial episode of their program on his broadcast, stating that it was hard to endure watching it.
In his explanation, he said that although he works for Channel Seven, he remained loyal to watching 7News. However, he also recorded 10News+ and later revisited it.
‘Although it was the debut episode, it felt unusual. It seemed as though ABC Television had blended its style with Ron Burgundy’s, resulting in an unconventional outcome.’

Kyle said the news series didn’t air one ‘story I cared about.’
He said, “The people over at Channel 10 are genuinely kind, but there’s an air of superiority about them that I found off-putting. Still, I was willing to give it a try, but it just didn’t hit the right note.
His co-host Jackie O Henderson defended the series and insisted viewers should ‘give it a chance’.
She stated, “If you had listened to our initial performance together, it might not have been impressive. It’s important to give things time and opportunity.
The show also received mixed reviews from other viewers, with many sharing their thoughts on X.
One individual likened 10 News+ to A Current Affair, remarking, “It’s reminiscent of ACA. They go to people’s homes for interviews, but those being interviewed often shy away from the cameras.
As an ardent follower, I can’t help but express my discontent. Instead of sticking with The Project, they switched to Temu ACA, seemingly oblivious to the fact that @theprojecttv is downright depressing. To make matters worse, 10news+ just doesn’t cut it for me!
Another person commented: ‘This commercial follows the format typical of Channel 7, but it’s more like a mix of Fox News and Anchorman in its presentation. The exaggerated ‘news’ voices seem unnecessary.’

A viewer at home wondered aloud: “Is anyone else feeling a bit restless?” Meanwhile, another expressed their sentiment saying, “Enough with the lengthy reports already, it’s 6pm.
Uh-oh, I decided to try out 10 News Plus, but it feels as if we’ve taken a step back 20 years! The news appears overly staged and forced.” This person commented.
‘The spectator commented, “It looks like this performance won’t hold up for a whole year.” Another viewer remarked, “I got the impression that it was mimicking a sketch from The Comedy Company of the 80s.” As for the fist pump at the end, they exclaimed, “Oh, that was quite a shock!”‘
One supporter wrote enthusiastically: “I’m really enjoying @10NewsPlus – your strong launch story has piqued my interest. I wonder if this could be a fresh take on the Schapelle Corby case that we’ve all been waiting for. Keep up the great work, 10 news!
In the opening of the latest episode, the newly acquired hosts – Denham Hitchcock and Amelia Brace – shared with viewers a preview of the intense, investigative show that lies ahead.
‘Firstly, we’re not here to here tell you what to think, to scare or depress you’ Hitchcock said.
‘We will give you facts, information you can trust – the truth’ Brace added.
Absolutely, we’re all about keeping you updated with the most important news each day, so you never have to worry about missing out.
However, we’re not only moving forward with thorough investigations, but we’re also uncovering unique insights through our own journalistic efforts – insights you can’t find elsewhere, as stated by Brace.
The initial installment featured an examination into drug trafficking involving Debbie Voulgaris from Melbourne, along with a conversation with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
