Radio star reveals tragic miscarriage months into her pregnancy: ‘The universe had other ideas’

Mix FM 92.7 radio star Annabelle Brett has taken to social media to share a family tragedy.

A.B., the 36-year-old announcer of the breakfast show, has publicly revealed that she recently experienced a miscarriage around three months into her pregnancy. She had previously kept her pregnancy private.

Sadly, things didn’t go as planned. Miscarriage happens in about 25% of pregnancies, yet very few people openly discuss it.

Annabelle, engaged to Alex Tait since 2020, shared that she had experienced a second miscarriage.

She added that she’d expected things to be simpler, either the first time or now, but it remains a very difficult and sad experience.

I truly sympathize with anyone who has experienced this or will in the future, and I urge them to share what they’re going through. It’s comforting to remember you’re not facing this alone.

She also included a moving photo of her husband clutching her hand in the post.

Annabelle welcomed her first child, Dolly, last year.

In 2021, she made headlines when she shared details of her husband’s quirky marriage proposal.

Annabelle playfully described the experience as unpleasant, explaining that Alex’s solution involved using a dog waste bag.

After sharing the news with Metro, the presenter from the Sunshine Coast explained that the proposal happened while the couple was walking their dog, Teddy.

While her dog was going to the bathroom, Annabelle grabbed some plastic bags to clean up after him, and that’s when she found something unexpected.

Hidden in the bag meant for her doggie’s poo was an engagement ring.

She recalled that she hadn’t felt like going for the walk that day, admitting she was feeling lazy. However, he really encouraged her and convinced her to come along.

I was completely shocked and thrilled when he proposed! I said yes immediately, though it was getting dark outside and I could barely make out the ring.

I wasn’t expecting such a unique proposal, but I really loved it! I’m not a fan of overly sentimental or cheesy gestures.

‘It was perfect and definitely will make a good story to tell for years to come.’

The proposal came after two years of dating Alex, who is a primary school teacher.

Annabelle, originally from New South Wales, started her broadcasting career in Queensland at 4ZZZ. In 2015, she became a newsreader for the SCA network on the Gold Coast.

She then pursued a career in local radio back in her home state, including a period working at Hit 105.5 in Coffs Harbour.

Before her current role she was in Triple M’s QLD Rush Hour slot with Elliott Lovejoy.

She now hosts the prized brekkie slot with Mark Darin on 92.7 Mix FM Breakfast.
