As someone who has spent the better part of my adulthood glued to the radio, I can wholeheartedly say that moments like the one shared by Lauren Phillips and Tahlia on Nova FM are what make this medium so special. The raw emotion, the long-awaited reunion, and the reminder that life’s busy moments don’t have to break connections – they can mend them instead.
On-air radio personality, Lauren Phillips, choked up in tears as she reunited with her ex-best friend over the airwaves on a Wednesday broadcast.
The Nova FM breakfast presenter, 37, became emotional as she spoke to her friend Tahlia for the first time in six years.
Lauren’s co-host Jase Hawkins surprised her by calling Tahlia live on air.
Lauren emotionally expressed, “It seems like just yesterday when we last met, yet here you are with a beautiful baby and a fulfilling life. It’s strange not being included in this new phase of your journey.
In a candid confession, I shared, “Although I’ve interacted with you online and feel as if we’re acquainted, I can’t help but feel regretful because I haven’t had the chance to meet you in person.
Tahlia went on to say that life got in the way of their friendship and they have ‘both been busy’.

Lauren remarked, “Our friendship was truly exceptional, and we’ve managed to avoid any disagreements so far. However, lately, our lives have become quite hectic.
Tahlia went on to say: ‘No one is at fault, everything is as it should be, and it’s all perfectly timed. We find ourselves in this very moment, and it’s simply enchanting.’
Lauren then revealed her plans to travel interstate to visit Tahlia in the near future.
After Lauren and her fellow host, Jase, shared their genuine feelings about departing from their previous employment, they extended a sincere gratitude to their audience.
The radio duo celebrated one year of Jase and Lauren for breakfast on the Nova network, after being dumped by KIIS FM in 2023.
On this special day, I’m overflowing with gratitude as I express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for tuning into our program. Exactly a year ago today, I stood right here, bracing myself for the news that we were unwanted voices on the radio waves. Yet here we are, still going strong! Your support means the world to us.
‘We got shafted a year ago to the day,’ added Jase.
Last year, the hosts of the Melbourne breakfast radio show were taken aback when their program was abruptly canceled to allow Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson to broaden their reach in the city from Sydney.

‘We love waking up with you in the mornings,’ Lauren continued.
Reflecting on this whirlwind of a year, I can confidently say it’s been the most transformative period of my professional journey yet. The highs and lows have shaped me into a stronger individual, and for that, I am grateful. Despite the challenges we faced, being here has truly brought a sense of fulfillment and growth that I never thought possible. This year has been a testament to my resilience and determination, making it undeniably the greatest professional year of my life.
‘Thank you to everyone for making this switch and sticking with us.’
A year back, if someone had predicted that we’d be where we are today, carrying out what we’re doing, our small minds wouldn’t have been able to grasp it. We wouldn’t have accepted it as true, she continued.
In April, Kyle and Jackie O moved their morning radio program to Melbourne as part of a large, multimillion-dollar agreement, leading to the cancellation of Jase and Lauren’s breakfast show on KIIS FM.
At that moment, an uncaring Kyle expressed that he didn’t care about his rivals getting fired since it boiled down to who had the most listeners in the end.
He expressed that he doesn’t place importance on the situation, which is why they chose Melbourne as their destination. Essentially, he said they decided to move because Jase and Lauren on KIIS FM had consistently ranked fourth in radio ratings and they believed there was no room for improvement, so they opted to leave. This was his statement to news.com.au.
Instead, it can be rephrased as: In the end, Jase and Lauren triumphed, surpassing The Kyle and Jackie O Show’s ratings on Nova 100 during September in Melbourne.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite comedy talk show clinched the top position in the 2024 GFK Radio Ratings Survey, earning us the prestigious number one spot!
In my expertise, I must share some exciting news about the program I’m involved with – we saw a significant boost of 0.3 points, bringing our audience share up to an impressive 9.9%. This puts us comfortably ahead of competitors like The Kyle and Jackie O Show. It’s truly rewarding to be part of a team that continues to captivate audiences!
In the city of Melbourne, where it debuted on April 29th, the program hosted by Kyle and Jackie O experienced a substantial drop, with a 6.1% audience share, placing it as the fifth most popular morning radio show in the city.
However, Melbourne newcomers Kyle and Jackie O still marked a slight rise in the city’s ratings, from 5.9 to 6.1 per cent.
