Radio hosts left stunned as black man tells them they 'identify as Anne Hathaway' in shock admission

As a seasoned observer of human nature, I find Dr. Ronnie Gladden’s story intriguing, to say the least. It’s not every day that one encounters an individual who identifies as transracial and transgender, let alone a tenured professor of English.

On Tuesday morning, the Australian radio hosts were taken aback when Dr. Ronnie Gladden shared that they feel they are identified as a white woman, although they are actually a black man.

On the Kyle and Jackie O Show, an American guest made it clear that they prefer to be recognized as the famous actress Anne Hathaway from Hollywood.

A tenured English professor based in Cincinnati shared that she realized at the age of four that she was a white woman, a revelation that surprised talk show hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O’ Henderson.

The shock jockey inquired, “At what point did it dawn on you, as a young person identifying as black, ‘Wow, this is surprising – I appear to be a white woman instead?'” addressing Ronnie, who prefers the use of they/them pronouns.

The actor replied, “I was only four years old at the time, hard to believe, isn’t it? But since you inquired, that is the truth.

Kyle mentioned, “Your family likely wouldn’t have agreed with that idea. I imagine them thinking, ‘Ronnie seems to be daydreaming.’

Ronnie added that they concealed their identity from others for the majority of their life, and never revealed their feelings to their parents either.

They remarked, “It occurred to me that the structure of my mind, its internal organization, doesn’t align with external mathematical concepts. I found myself wondering, ‘How can I make use of this?’

Regarding their link to Anne Hathaway, Ronnie started highlighting an unusual and complex association that supposedly connected them with the esteemed actress.

‘So, Anne Hathaway, of course. She’s beautiful, and she can do anything,’ they said.

It’s well-known that Anne Hathaway’s partner bears a strong resemblance to the man himself, as Anne has acknowledged – none other than William Shakespeare.

Indeed, it’s also well-known that Anne Hathaway, as her name suggests, is believed to have been a close relative of the renowned playwright William Shakespeare.

Therefore, having participated in a few Shakespearean plays, it’s fascinating for me to note the literary link. Furthermore, she is not only stunning but also incredibly intelligent.

Jackie O asked, “Is it primarily about appreciating her appearance and wishing to resemble her, rather than identifying with her personally?

Ronnie expressed: “Indeed, she’s not available, correct? Aren’t those the words of Oscar Wilde? It seems wise to simply be oneself since everyone else appears to be taken.

“She’s not available, but she embodies a particular type. There’s an undeniable quality to her aura, her strength… To me, she seems like a remarkable symbol. Her appearance, the paleness of her skin.

Ronnie belongs to an under-the-radar group of individuals known as “transgracial,” which refers to those who are not only transgender but also identify with a racial or ethnic background different from their assigned one at birth.

Individuals identifying as transracial perceive race as a socially-defined concept, implying it can be self-identified, yet the notion of altering one’s racial identity remains a deeply contentious topic.

A well-known instance of someone who identifies with a different racial background than their biological one is Rachel Dolezal, a previous leader of the NAACP, who, back in 2015, was revealed to be a Caucasian woman whose family mainly originates from Europe.

globally, as well as on social platforms, there was widespread indignation following her assertion that the concept of race is false.

Last year, while chatting with BBC’s Newsnight, I boldly asserted that ethnicity isn’t merely a matter of biology and drew parallels between being ‘transracial’ and being transgender – a statement that sparked quite the buzz on Twitter, with some critics accusing me of leveraging my ‘white privilege’ to bolster my arguments.

In the face of criticism, Rachel firmly stood by her identification as being of the Black race, referring to herself as ‘unabashedly Black’ in a documentary released in 2019.

Rachel commended Ronnie’s work, stating that it ‘inspires us to broaden our understanding of empathy and belonging’.
