Radio host Lauren Phillips makes surprising admission about her superstar 'mate' Matt Damon

As a dedicated follower of entertainment news and a self-proclaimed movie buff, I must admit, I was taken aback when I learned about Lauren Phillips’ confession about Matt Damon. Having lived most of my adult life engrossed in the world of cinema, I have always prided myself on being well-versed in the works of Hollywood’s elite. However, after learning that Lauren hasn’t seen any of Matt’s films, I felt a strange sense of camaraderie with her.

Lauren Phillips has made a very surprising admission about her ‘mate’ Matt Damon.

On the Jase and Lauren show of Nova Radio, the 41-year-old host confessed on Wednesday that she has never watched any movies made by Matt.

Later on, she disclosed the story about how Matt managed to persuade her into watching his Academy Award-winning movie from 1997, titled Good Will Hunting, which he not only acted in but also collaborated on the script with Ben Affleck.

In a recent chat with a renowned Hollywood star, my colleague Jase Hawkins shared an amusing tidbit about me – apparently, I struggle to pair movies effectively. It seems that my cinematic compatibility skills could use some refining!

Yesterday, we grilled her about movies, and it turned out that she primarily watches Christmas films. I believe you, Matt, subtly pressured her into watching Good Will Hunting.

Lauren retorted: ‘I wasn’t manipulated into it; I genuinely asked him, “Which of your films should I watch?”‘

‘And Matt responded “How about the one I wrote when I was a kid? Why don’t you watch that one? The seminal moment in my life”.’

Later on, Lauren disclosed that she had lately hung out with Matt’s kids – Alexa, Isabella, Gia, and Stellar – and they had assessed the actor’s movies.

She mentioned that one evening, we spent time with his children and we watched every film he’s ever made, and they organized them according to their preferences, she stated.

‘They gave them scores out of 10 – like our very own Rotten tomatoes happening around the table.’

Matt added that while his children hadn’t seen many of his movies, they were still tough critics.

During the talk show, the actor, promoting his new movie “The Instigators,” subtly suggested that he might arrange for an exclusive screening of the film at his close friend Chris Hemsworth’s home in Byron Bay.

As someone who has been following the latest releases on streaming platforms, I’m quite excited about the upcoming premiere of a new show on August 9th, which will be available exclusively on Apple TV Plus. Having spent several years living and working in Australia, I can appreciate the unique stories that come from Down Under and am eager to see how this production will showcase the country’s rich culture and talent. Can’t wait to add it to my watchlist!

“Since we’re going to be in Byron Bay, we’ll hold our Australian debut at Chris’ place, setting up a makeshift red carpet since you’ll be the sole reporter there. To protect the grass, we’ll lay down a towel, and we can stream the whole event live,” the celebrity quipped playfully.

Lauren, who lives in Melbourne, was introduced to Damon by the Hemsworth family several years ago.

Her aviation tycoon fiancé, Paul O’Brien also counts Matt and Chris as his friends.
