Radio 1 DJ Hospitalized for Emergency Surgery Just 6 Weeks After Giving Birth!
Katie Thistleton, a popular DJ on BBC Radio 1, has disclosed that she had to be urgently admitted to the hospital for an operation – a mere six weeks following the birth of her son.
As an overjoyed mom of a little miracle named Reuben, who just turned one month old, I felt compelled to share my recent ordeal with all of you. Last month, a gigantic cyst developed on my ovary, causing me intense, unbearable pain. Unfortunately, this required immediate medical intervention to prevent any further complications.
Today marks six weeks since I gave birth, and I am thrilled to announce that I have fully recovered from my C-section! This means I can now drive and do other activities.
I unexpectedly underwent an emergency operation on my ovary a few days back due to a massive, 16 cm sized cyst that had caused my ovary and fallopian tube to twist.
Fellas, when I say the pain was unbearable, it was so intense that I would’ve gladly accepted a bullet to the head if offered. Fortunately, they were able to preserve the ovary, which they initially thought might have needed to be removed.
Following the surgery, Katie comforted her audience by letting them know she had returned home, posting an endearing video of little Reuben enjoying his playmat.

Last month, the broadcaster announced the birth of her son on Instagram.
Last year, when Katie stunned everyone by announcing her pregnancy during a live broadcast, she recently shared a monochrome picture showing herself holding her newborn baby with her husband Alex.
She wrote: ‘Reuben Alexander Harris was born on the 6th March and he is THE CUTEST THING EVER.
The adoration I have for my extraordinary spouse and the small, precious being we’ve created leaves me almost overwhelmed with emotion.
I’m filled with fulfillment! I’m incredibly thankful for our loved ones, family, and friends. I can’t help but want to embrace warmly every parent I encounter. Moreover, I’m deeply impressed by the hard work and dedication of obstetricians, pediatricians, and midwives.
‘The emotion I experienced when I first laid eyes on him is indescribable 💗 Right now, we’re cherishing the delightful journey of our small family of three, and we feel profoundly grateful for every moment.’
‘Ps. Reuben means ‘behold, a son’ and he was born to the Beatles ‘here comes the sun’ ☀️ obsessed.’
Katie, a co-host on Radio 1’s “Going Home with Vick, Katie and Jamie,” received an overwhelming number of warm greetings from her famous friends.

Clara Amfo wrote: ‘Congratulations! I hope he arrived to arrived to Lauryn’s voice! Xx’.
Rickie Haywood-Williams added: ‘Hi Reuben ✨ What a beautiful family’.
dear Punam Krishan,
I am absolutely thrilled for your wonderful news! I can hardly wait to greet you both with a warm embrace when I get the chance, congratulations on becoming a mother, you truly shine like a star!
Prior to joining Radio 1, Katie was known for presenting CBBC HQ and the CBBC Book Club.
Initially, she revealed her pregnancy in October while participating in a quiz with her coworkers, causing them to react with astonishment, emitting excited squeals.

In response to their surprise, Katie clarified by saying, “I’ve just shared a scan picture and a note with Matt and Mollie, informing them that me and Alex are expecting a baby.
‘I was so scared that that would go wrong, like the WiFi wouldn’t send it.’

During that period, Mollie, a member of The Saturdays band who was anticipating the birth of her second child Liliana with her partner Stuart Broad, was especially thrilled by the news. Katie shared that she had been eager to share the exciting news with her fellow pregnant friend.
She shared: ‘I mean, oh my god Mollie I’ve wanted to talk to you about this so much.
One time, as you passed us by, I commented something along the lines of asking how you were doing, to which you replied that you had been very ill. At that moment, I was secretly feeling just as unwell but hadn’t shared it with anyone yet. However, I wanted to let you know that my due date is in March, so we’re not too far apart in terms of our health struggles, really.
Following the live announcement, Katie posted a video montage on Instagram, stating: “Today marks our third beautiful year of marriage. It seems fitting to share news about the upcoming phase in our lives. Keep an eye out for a surprise.
