Rachel Zoe recalled the ‘insane’ moment that led to her filing for divorce from ex Rodger Berman.  

Fashion designer, 54, opened up about her separation from her husband, Berman, during Thursday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She first announced the split in September 2024.

Oh my gosh, I’ve followed this couple for years! It’s just so sad to hear they’re separating after being together for 33 amazing years. They were actually married for 26 of those – can you believe it? They got married way back in ’96! And they have two adorable sons, Skyler who’s 14, and little Kaius who’s 12. It’s just… heartbreaking, honestly. They seemed so perfect!

I was chatting with Erika Jayne recently, and I shared a story about my ex. Apparently, he just showed up one day with his new girlfriend – we didn’t hear about her name on the show, but he wanted our sons to meet her. It was totally unexpected, and honestly, a bit of a surprise move!

Recently, Berman has been seen with Bree Jacoby, sparking romantic rumors. This came only four months after his breakup with Zoe, and the two appeared quite close.

Around the time her kids were leaving for camp, the TV personality mentioned that she hadn’t yet met them.

The celebrity was shocked when, as their children were leaving for camp, their ex-partner suddenly showed up. They couldn’t believe she was there, greeting their sons, and expressed their disbelief with a frustrated question.

And during a confessional, Zoe revealed that she had officially filed for divorce that same day. 

It wasn’t any single event, just a build-up of things,” she explained, describing what led her to decide to end the marriage.

A series of poor choices – over the past month, weeks, and even the last hour – is finally pushing me to take action.

The mom-of-two and Berman did not sign a prenup before marrying. 

The designer additionally expressed that she didn’t want to receive or give spousal support. 

I see this as a fresh start, and since we’re going our separate ways and becoming independent individuals, I don’t think either of us should be financially responsible for the other’s life anymore.

Last July, news broke that Zoe had filed for divorce, stating in court documents that she and her spouse separated on June 27, 2024, according to the Daily Mail.

She stated that she and Berman were separating due to differences they couldn’t resolve. She also asked the court to grant both of them shared legal and physical custody of their two children.

Rodger and I have decided to get a divorce after 33 years together, including 26 years of marriage, we shared in a joint statement.

‘We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together.’ 

The couple announced they will focus on raising their sons and plan to continue working together on their shared businesses while co-parenting.

During the season 15 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills last year, Zoe also revealed details about her breakup with Berman, according to Bravo.

She explained that our relationship had become difficult for many reasons, but looking back, her biggest regret was probably that we had worked together.

She explained that the man she’d been with for most of her adult life had changed significantly, becoming someone she barely knew. She realized he ultimately wasn’t a good fit for her or their children.

In the same TV episode, the reality star said her sons were already aware of Berman’s new girlfriend, even while he and his wife were getting divorced.

She mentioned that Rodger has been dating the same woman for a year, and the children have likely known about the relationship for around ten months.

Late last year in November, Zoe revealed that she had been the one to ask for divorce. 

After I decided to end my marriage, I just moved on, thinking about what came next,” the fashion designer explained to People.

The star shared that she’s speaking openly about her divorce to support as many women as she can.

It feels like about a third of the women I know are either separating or getting divorced right now.

Zoe explained that people kept asking her, and still ask her, how she could seem so fine after ending a relationship that had been a huge part of her life as an adult.

I value my independence – being self-sufficient with my money, career, and social life. I don’t think people realize how important that is.

The reality star revealed on a previous episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills that becoming a mother altered her friendship with Berman.

She explained to Kathy Hilton that they’d simply grown apart and become very different people.

Late last year, she shared with People magazine that she’s started dating again and is really enjoying it, calling it ‘incredibly fun.’

Honestly, I picked that up pretty quickly. It came really easily, actually. I feel like I’m in a really free and open period of my life right now.

Zoe announced she’s moving forward with peace after 26 years of marriage and feels no regret about the split.

Honestly, the split was a relief. I really felt I’d reached my limit, and you know what? I have absolutely no regrets about giving the relationship my all. I truly put everything I had into it, and I can walk away knowing that.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I almost died! I was scrolling through pictures from the Paris Hilton documentary premiere in L.A. and I spotted her – Zoe! Seriously, she was actually walking the red carpet! I screenshotted it like five times, it was amazing! I can’t believe Zoe was there, supporting Paris. It made my whole week!

Sascha Haert, a relationship coach, was with her, but it’s unclear if they are in a relationship.
