After their performance, Rachel (playing Juliet) popped open a bottle of champagne for a celebration. On stage, her co-star, Kit Connor (as Romeo), also joined in the festivities.
In the popular Netflix series Heartstopper, Kit is famously known for portraying the character Nick Nelson. Recently, he chose to wear a black vest and jeans, highlighting his well-toned body in a public appearance.
They lifted their glasses in celebration, joining the cast and team behind the scenes, as their show began at The Circle in the Square Theatre.
Rachel and Kit stirred enthusiasm for their forthcoming program as early as April, when they each shared the characters ‘R’ and ‘J’ on their social media accounts.
In their respective posts, Connor shared the letter ‘R’, whereas Zegler displayed the letter ‘J’ accompanied by overlapping semi-circles resembling a plus sign’s head.
Both geotagged the posts as Verona, the location of the Shakespearean story.
In May, a new take on the classic tale was previewed, featuring the main characters living in contemporary suburban surroundings.
Before the show began, Rachel chose a delicate and modest appearance, wearing a strapless yellow Dior gown.
Zegler’s A-line frock, styled by Sarah Slutsky Tooley, boasted embroidered florals throughout.
The dark-haired beauty punctuated the outfit with yellow, open-toe, Dior heels that exposed her nude pedicure.
In terms of his attire, Kit donned a well-fitted navy blue Emporio Armani suit, paired with a white shirt and a black and white striped tie.
Rachel donned jewelry from Sophie Bille Brahe and Melissa Kaye, acknowledging them in an Instagram post, according to Tooley.
She titled various backstage photos of the actress as ‘Celebrating the opening night of our Juliet!!! @rachelzegler, we adore you from here to the moon, sun, and stars! Congratulations on this fantastic accomplishment!!! Broadway Star!!’
The official Instagram account for Romeo & Juliet posted a promotional image, accompanied by this message: “Two destined lovers make their appearance on stage tonight! It’s opening night!
In August it was announced that the play received a four-week extension amid high demand.
Originally, the performance was scheduled to end by January 2025, but it’s now been extended to February 16th.
The Shakespeare classic kicked off on Broadway with preview performances on September 26.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I couldn’t help but notice Tommy Dorfman making a striking entrance at the opening night event. They opted for a dramatic, see-through, black gown that gracefully flowed, turning heads effortlessly.
The 32-year-old performer sported a mid-parted, shoulder-length blond bob hairstyle that she often pushed behind her ears.
After the preliminary performances in September, Dorfman excitedly shared on social media, ‘I made my Broadway debut (!!!) as both the nurse and Tybalt in Sam Gold’s production of Romeo and Juliet NYC this week, which is a sentence I never imagined I would ever write.’
She exclaimed, ‘It’s been ten years since I graduated from college, and I’ve arrived! What a blessing! I adore this team more than words can express. We’re moving to Circle in the Square now – February 16th!’
Zegler commented on the post, ‘yeah so i am crying.’
And actress Zooey Deschanel joined the comments to drop three fire emoji.
