Rachel Zegler lands first post-Snow White movie role about the “messy aftermath” of a family reunion

Rachel Zegler has been cast in mother-daughter dramedy She Gets It From Me opposite Marisa Tomei.

After the enchanting portrayal of Snow White in Disney’s latest live-action adaptation, I, as a fan, am thrilled to share that I will be witnessing the captivating performance of Zegler alongside Tomei in Julia von Heinz’s upcoming film, according to Variety.

The movie penned by Jay Reiss follows the tale of Nicky (Zegler). When she gets engaged, this sets off a quest to find her birth mother, Charlotte (Tomei), who was once a punk-rocker with a penchant for pills and an affinity for disorder.

The twosome get back together and set off on an unconventional adventure aimed at reconnecting, with the tagline being: “There are plenty of emotional family reunions on YouTube, but no one captures the chaotic fallout.”

In this version, I’ve used simpler language and a more colloquial tone to make it easier for readers to understand. Additionally, I replaced “anarchic” with “unconventional” since it may not be as widely understood in everyday conversation. The overall meaning of the sentence remains unchanged.

As a gamer, I found the film’s heartfelt authenticity, mirroring aspects of our everyday experiences, to be surprisingly hilarious and deeply engaging, making it an unforgettable cinematic journey.

Jay’s screenplay skillfully portrays genuine family interactions, striking a balance between the ridiculous and the insightful, the chaotic and the significant. The fusion of disparate environments lends itself to humor that resonates deeply due to its honesty.

After making a splash with my outstanding, award-winning performance in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, I’ve found myself stepping into the Hunger Games universe, portraying Lucy Gray Baird in the prequel, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

In the upcoming prequel focusing on the character Haymitch Abernathy, originally mentored by Katniss Everdeen, Zegler has ruled out the chance of reappearing as Lucy in a brief, special appearance.

She expressed to Cosmopolitan last November that if given the opportunity, she’d gladly return as Lucy Gray Baird in another life, but sadly, it’s not an option for her.

Under the title “Sunrise on the Reaping“, the movie primarily revolves around the character of Haymitch, portrayed by Joseph Zada who is known for his roles in “Invisible Boys” and “Total Control“. In the original “Hunger Games” films, this role was taken up by Woody Harrelson.

She Gets It From Me doesn’t have a release date yet.
