Rachel Riley replacement confirmed as YouTube star lands Countdown role
Countdown‘s Rachel Riley will be temporarily replaced by YouTube math star, Dr Tom Crawford.
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! As a dedicated fan of Countdown, it was revealed that our beloved mathematician, Riley, is temporarily stepping away from her hosting role. She’s choosing to prioritize another intriguing project right now. Can’t wait to see what she’ll achieve next!
Instead of her, mathematician Dr. Crawford will join host Colin Murray and lexicographer Susie Dent on the Channel 4 show.
Crawford’s Tom Rocks Maths YouTube channel has gained widespread popularity as it strives to provide quality mathematics education accessible to all, rather than just a select few.
Starting from next Monday, February 24, I’ll be stepping into Riley’s shoes as the resident math whiz for a three-week stint, according to what he posted on his Instagram. As a gamer, I’m excited to bring my analytical skills to this new challenge!
Amazed it’s coming true! Over the next 3 weeks, from Monday 2:10pm, you’ll find me trying my hand at math problems live on TV, exclusively on @channel4,” Crawford posted, accompanied by a photo of him and Riley in the studio.
@rachelrileyrr – whose extraordinary math abilities are unmatched – is indispensable,” he went on. “However, with @mrcolinmurray and @susiedent as my companions, we’ll strive to provide you an enjoyable experience for the upcoming weeks. Here’s to more days of engaging daytime television!
Meanwhile on Channel 4, they’ve obtained the rights to air all three seasons of the Australian drama “Jack Irish,” which stars Guy Pearce in the role of a lawyer transformed into an investigator.
At present, the UK streaming service offers a television series based on Peter Temple’s books, where the actors from “Neighbours” and “The Brutalist” portray the main character. This character is a former defense attorney who now works as an investigator and debt collector after assuming the title role.
In this production, we see Pearce acting alongside Marta Dusseldorp, Aaron Pedersen, Roy Billing, Shane Jacobson, and Damien Richardson.
