The important announcement was made during the Season 4 reveal for Year 10. However, many people in the community remain doubtful.
Rainbow Six Siege is currently experiencing a major problem with cheaters, particularly at higher skill levels like Emerald and above. The issue has become much more frequent since the game switched to a free-to-play model, likely because cheaters are less likely to spend money on games.
So, I was watching the Munich Major 2025 for R6 Siege X, and the developers used the event to finally talk about what’s coming in Season 4 of Year 10. They hit on the usual stuff, like updates to ShieldGuard, but the game director also directly addressed some of the big problems players have been complaining about – right there on stage!
If someone did that in the voice chat, they would certainly get a short ban.
I don’t often address cheaters, and frankly, I have no sympathy for them. I really can’t stand it, and I know you feel the same way. Cheating ruins the game, and it’s unacceptable in any competition.

Free-to-play and cheaters in R6 Siege X
The game originally required purchase, which made cheating a bit harder. It took some effort for cheaters to target Rainbow Six Siege when plenty of free shooting games were available.
In June 2025, Ubisoft switched to a free-to-play model with a redesigned version of Rainbow Six Siege, called Rainbow Six Siege X. You can probably guess what happened after that.
As more people started enjoying the thrilling competitive matches in Rainbow Six Siege, the game unfortunately attracted the attention of cheaters.
It’s easy to tell the difference between a skilled opponent and a cheater. A good player uses strategy and superior skill to outmaneuver you, while a cheater acts randomly and somehow manages to land shot after shot with impossible accuracy.
Safeguard Shield: R6 Siege X anti-cheat in Year 10 Season 4
The developers acknowledged that their anti-cheat system is constantly lagging behind those creating new cheating methods.
This season, we’re committed to improving Rainbow Six Siege and will keep investing in features that ensure a fair and secure gaming experience.
To keep cheaters at bay, we’ll be releasing security updates twice a week, making it much harder for them to create new cheats.
At the Year 10 Season 4 reveal, Adrian Fraisse shared that the team is developing a system to detect recoil scripts. They plan to collaborate with professional players to improve its accuracy.
Actions speak louder than words!
The Rainbow Six Siege community generally liked the strong statement against cheaters, but many doubt whether it will actually lead to meaningful changes.
We’ve seen some exciting announcements before, like the reveal of Siege X and the launches of previous seasons in Year 10. Unfortunately, the issue with cheaters continues to be a problem.
Just before the R6 Munich Major 2025, several top Rainbow Six Siege players released a document called “Save Siege.” This document outlined their ideas for making the game better, with improvements to anti-cheat systems being their top priority.

Siege players are most frustrated by a lack of consequences for cheaters and insufficient resources dedicated to handling reports of cheating.
While greeting new promises, the R6 community wants to see them being converted into real actions.
