R-Type Tactics I – II Cosmos is Now Set For Release in 2025
As a long-time fan of the R-Type series, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing the news about the delay of R-Type Tactics I – II Cosmos until 2025. On one hand, I’m excited for the potential visual and gameplay enhancements that Unreal Engine 5 might bring to these classic games. On the other, my patience is being tested once again, as I’ve grown accustomed to the dance between anticipation and disappointment when it comes to releases of my beloved R-Type titles.
NIS America and developer Granzella have shared the news that the release of R-Type Tactics I – II Cosmos has been postponed to 2025, as opposed to its originally anticipated summer 2023 launch date which later shifted to fall 2024.
Cosmos collects R-Type Tactics from 2007 and its sequel R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate, which were initially launched for PSP. Each game combines side-scrolling turn-based strategy with shoot ’em up (shmup) action, allowing you to choose between the Bydo Empire or Space Corps as your character.
Originally crafted with Unreal Engine 5, the classic R-Type Tactics I & II will make its entrance onto western platforms like Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2025 (subject to no additional delays).
