Quincy Jones' cause of death revealed to be pancreatic cancer, report says

As a fan who grew up with the rhythmic symphony that was Quincy Jones’ genius, I am deeply saddened by his passing. His music has been the soundtrack of my life, from dancing to “Thriller” as a child to grooving to Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” as an adult. The news of his death feels like a chapter closing in a book that I hold dear.

Music legend Quincy Jones died earlier this month reportedly from pancreatic cancer.

According to reports from TMZ and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the cause of death for the 28-time Grammy Award winner was confirmed as an aggressive form of cancer. Other contributing factors to his passing were not mentioned.

91-year-old music legend, who significantly influenced Michael Jackson’s solo career and collaborated with artists like Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, and The Weeknd, passed away on November 3rd at his residence in Bel-Air. His family, including children, siblings, and close relatives, were by his side during his final moments. The cause of his death was not revealed initially.

Robinson did not immediately respond Wednesday to The Times’ request for confirmation.

On Sunday, a private funeral took place in Los Angeles for the acclaimed composer who was nominated for an Oscar and well-known music producer, according to his family. A more public memorial event is being arranged, although the exact date has yet to be revealed.

Paying homage to her father, actress Rashida Jones, who was one of his seven offspring, expressed that her father’s legacy lies in making everyone he encountered feel cherished and understood.

She expressed on Instagram that she’ll deeply miss his affectionate gestures, boundless loyalty, and counsel. ‘Father,’ she penned, ‘it’s a privilege to be your daughter. Your love endures eternally.’

This year, pancreatic cancer – often referred to as a “stealthy menace” – has been reported by the National Institutes of Health as the fourth most common cause of cancer fatalities, responsible for approximately 8% of all cancer-related deaths.

Numerous notable figures have succumbed to a relentless form of cancer, among them Patrick Swayze (famous for his roles in “Ghost” and “Dirty Dancing”), Steve Jobs (co-founder of Apple), Aretha Franklin (Queen of Soul), astronaut Sally Ride, former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, longtime “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, talk-show host Jerry Springer, and The Times’ restaurant critic Jonathan Gold.
