Queen Camilla’s nephew chooses festive rap instead of carols for his charity event at St James’s Church
As someone who has spent a significant portion of my life immersed in the vibrant world of royalty and charity events, I find it truly heartwarming to see such diverse personalities coming together for a noble cause. The spirit of unity and generosity exhibited by both Kate Middleton and Camilla’s nephew, Sir Ben Elliot, is a testament to the enduring power of compassion.
As the Princess of Wales eagerly anticipates her “Together At Christmas” carol service, it is worth noting that Queen Camilla’s nephew, Sir Ben Elliot, has managed to secure a popular American hip-hop artist for his holiday-themed charity event.
Next week, it’s Eve, a well-known rap artist from Philadelphia, who will be the main performer at the St James’s Christmas Carol Concert held at St James’s Church on Piccadilly.
Eve, famous for songs like “Let Me Blow Your Mind” and currently residing in London, shares a life there with her spouse, the ex-racing driver and creator of the Gumball 3000, Maximillion Cooper.
The upcoming event, highlighted by performances from artists like Emeli Sande and Jack Savoretti, aims to raise funds for the Quintessentially Foundation and their Firefly Project. This project assists young individuals struggling with poverty in London.
Sir Ben, who is related to the Queen through his aunt Annabel Elliot, established the Quintessentially Foundation. He anticipates that this event, which brought in over £350,000 last year, will draw in kind-hearted contributors.
As a passionate advocate, I firmly believe that by joining forces, we can empower these charities to keep up their extraordinary efforts in rekindling hope, well-being, and joy for the youth in London who are grappling with adversity.
This year, the Princess of Wales is set to organize her traditional Christmas carol service. The event will focus on the theme of mutual support, emphasizing its importance, particularly during the toughest periods in our lives.
Despite enduring a challenging year due to cancer treatment, as noted by the Prince of Wales, Kate will proceed with her broadcasted holiday event at Westminster Abbey scheduled for December 6th, according to Kensington Palace’s announcement.
The princess aims to organize the Together At Christmas service in 2024, overcoming health hurdles she’s encountered, as a step in resuming her public roles following her completion of chemotherapy treatment in the summer.
According to reports, Kate specifically emphasized that the service’s central idea should highlight individuals who assist those in distress, with a strong emphasis on the significance of compassion and kindness, during the Remembrance events she attended over the weekend.
This year’s event serves as an opportunity for contemplation on the significance of love, compassion, and our mutual dependence, particularly during the toughest periods in our existence. (Kensington Palace statement paraphrased)
The service intends to highlight people across the United Kingdom who have demonstrated compassion, goodness, and understanding by helping others within their localities.
This year, it was Her Royal Highness’s wish to honor those selflessly helping those in distress – these individuals who have given advice, offered comfort, and most importantly, demonstrated that love is the most valuable present one can receive.
‘The idea behind this topic draws on the essence of the Christmas tale, reminding us to think about the feelings and situations of people around us. It underscores the vital role that offering and receiving empathy plays in our humanity.’
This year marks the fourth occasion that Kate’s Together At Christmas carol service will take place, an event backed by The Royal Foundation.
On Christmas Eve, the event will air live on both ITV1 and ITVX as a unique television program.
A collection of individuals from the royal household will unite with the princess, while approximately 1,600 individuals pack the London abbey to witness live concerts by well-known artists such as Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean, and Gregory Porter.
Among those invited are individuals who have shown kindness and support, whether by assisting loved ones and acquaintances personally, or through professional endeavors such as work or volunteer activities.
Charities linked to the royal family and Lord Lieutenants, who act as the King’s local representatives throughout the United Kingdom, have proposed some names.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: I often mention the Middletons, who were a pillar of strength for Kate during her health challenges. Typically, they join in these events, and last year, an extraordinary sight unfolded as Kate and William brought along their young royals – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
At the abbey, our decorations will draw inspiration from nature, while the service itself will seamlessly blend traditional and contemporary aspects to create an inclusive environment for individuals of any religious or non-religious background.
Moreover, 15 community carol services during Christmas are scheduled to occur throughout the United Kingdom, with events happening at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and Blackpool Tower Circus among others.
Under the patronage of Lord Lieutenants and backed by The Royal Foundation, these community services aim to honor individuals who have shown exceptional dedication in assisting others.
