Punk legends Green Day announce first Australian tour in 8 years - here's how you can get tickets

As a seasoned concert-goer and a devoted fan of rock music, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement hearing that Green Day is finally returning to Australia after eight long years! Having had the privilege of witnessing their electrifying performances multiple times, I can confidently say that this tour will be an unforgettable experience for fans across the country.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be joining Green Day down under for their long-awaited comeback tour in Australia after a hiatus of eight years!

The popular American rock group has shared on Instagram that they plan to take their Saviors stadium tour to Australia in March 2025, fulfilling their promise made last year of returning to the country for a concert.

Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool, who were here for a show back in 2017, are set to launch their Australian tour with a performance at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on March 1st.

On March 3, they’ll fly to Engie Stadium in Sydney, and on March 5, they’ll head to CBUS Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to join the celebration marking the 20th anniversary of Green Day’s groundbreaking album, Dookie, which was succeeded 10 years later by their chart-topping punk rock opus, American Idiot.

Since their formation in Rodeo, California back in 1987, fans have been able to savor the band’s most iconic songs all the way up to their 2024 album release titled “Saviors.

‘Australia has always been a big stop for us,’ bassist Dirnt told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday.

You all seem to grasp the essence of rock ‘n’ roll, and it’s truly enjoyable being in the company of folks who not only appreciate but also enthusiastically honor this genre, with such an impressive roster of legends associated with it.

As a passionate music enthusiast hailing from California, I’m thrilled to share the news that my favorite bands, AFI, are teaming up with Green Day for an unmissable tour! While we don’t have the names of the Australian acts joining them just yet, this lineup promises an electrifying night of rock music. So, get ready to rock out with these iconic bands and create some unforgettable memories!

The opportunity to buy tickets starts with fans during the pre-sale event on September 16 (Gold Coast – 1pm, Melbourne – 2pm, Sydney – 3pm).

On September 17th at 10am (Gold Coast), 11am (Melbourne), and 12pm (Sydney), the pre-sale for Vodafone and CommBank MasterCard will commence.

On September 19, Live Nation will be running a pre-sale at 11am for the Gold Coast show, midday for Melbourne, and 1pm for Sydney.

On September 20th at noon (Sydney, Gold Coast), or 1pm (Melbourne), everyone can get their tickets!

Initially, Green Day’s performance in Australia was scheduled for 2020 as part of their Hella Mega Tour. However, the tour had to be called off because of stringent COVID-19 measures.

At that point in time, they had arranged for a series of four concerts to take place in Australia’s stadiums. It was also expected that they would be sharing the stage with their punk rock peers, Fall Out Boy and Weezer.

Green Day last put boots on Aussie soil in 2017 during their Revolution Radio Tour.
