PUBG Mobile unbanned in Bangladesh after nearly four years
Overjoyed to share that after a nearly four-year hiatus, it’s finally official – PUBG Mobile is back in Bangladesh! Many prominent figures within the esports community and media outlets have confirmed this exciting news. Now that the ban has been lifted, players across the nation can once again immerse themselves in the game using their local network providers and Wi-Fi connections.
As a gaming enthusiast in Bangladesh, it’s been a long and challenging wait, but finally, the tides have turned! The ban on KRAFTON’s battle royale title that was imposed back in 2021 following orders from our High Court has seen some promising developments. Since then, relentless efforts have been made to lift this ban, and at last, I feel a strong sense of hope as we move into the beginning of 2025, with favorable winds blowing in our direction!
The community celebrates with mixed feelings, hoping to see a resurrection in gaming soon
Back in the day, I was thoroughly hooked on PUBG Mobile – a game that had swept the nation and laid the groundwork for some of our most esteemed esports teams. Among them was A1 Esports, a top-tier squad that even managed to compete in the 2020 PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC). With the country making a name for itself in the South Asian esports scene, things were looking up. But then came an unexpected ban from the government, putting a sudden halt on our gaming progress.
Upon hearing the news of the unban, we noticed a flood of comments from folks expressing a range of emotions, primarily positive ones. Some see this unban as a chance to rekindle fond memories, while others view it as a rebirth or resurgence in the world of gaming and esports.

PUBG Mobile was banned in 2021, the court declared it “destructive”
As a devoted enthusiast, I recall that in the year 2021, upon a writ petition labeling it harmful, the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court promptly barred a specific game, which I was quite fond of – Free Fire among others like TikTok – due to its alleged destructive nature.
For quite some time now, there’s been a persistent call from young people and communities for the lifting of the ban on this particular game. However, in April 2022, another plea to overturn the ban reached the courts, but it was ultimately dismissed.
In the community, people continued to play PUBG Mobile through VPNs since it was available that way. Occasionally, players could join games without altering their IP addresses, yet the matchmaking system demanded a connection. Regrettably, incidents such as the arrest of over a hundred gamers were observed. However, persistent efforts from the community have ultimately led to the lifting of the ban on PUBG Mobile in Bangladesh.
