PS5 Price Increase 2025: What you’ll pay in UK, EU & more

In various locations, Sony has increased the cost of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) on account of inflation and exchange rate fluctuations. Simultaneously, there’s been a significant price drop for the PS5 Disc Drive.

Surprisingly, I found myself adjusting my budget for a PS5 upgrade in 2025, as the price hike was announced across various regions. Sony broke the news on April 13, 2025, attributing the increase to the difficult economic climate we’re currently facing.

As mentioned in an official PlayStation blog post that was published the day before the implementation, the company attributed the recent change to escalating inflation and volatile exchange rates, which led them to make a challenging choice. These adjustments will take effect starting from April 14, 2025.

In light of a difficult economic climate marked by rising inflation and volatile currency values, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has chosen to increase the suggested retail price (RRP) for the PlayStation 5 console in certain regions such as Europe, Middle East, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
