Prue Leith struts her stuff in red oversized midi dress as she walks alongside nude models in Vin and Omi: Dysphoriana show during London Fashion Week

Prue Leith made a bold fashion statement at London Fashion Week on Thursday, walking the runway alongside models who were topless as part of the Vin + Omi: Dysphoriana show.

The 85-year-old judge from The Great British Bake Off seemed cheerful as she walked the runway in a flowing, oversized red dress.

I’m loving this look! The outfit really made a statement with its bold, asymmetrical hemline, and Prue kept it fun and modern by pairing it with bright red and white sneakers. It’s such a great way to balance something dramatic with everyday comfort – a total style win!

The TV star complimented her look with a small red hat and accessorised with fuchsia earrings.

One model at the show wore a see-through orange dress with pink sleeves and a black choker, and did not wear a bra.

Jane Moore, a panelist on Loose Women, also took part in the show, wearing a burnt orange dress with a black pattern and a black beehive hairstyle.

Meanwhile, Jo Wood put on an animated display in a black leather dress with a v-neckline.

This followed Prue Leith’s comment that women ‘can’t have it all,’ where she explained she would have likely found being a full-time mother ‘boring and tiring’ given her professional life.

Prue believes her success – opening a restaurant, starting a cooking school, and building a catering business – wouldn’t have been possible if she’d married and had children in her twenties.

She explained that success often depends on good timing. If you’re fortunate enough to achieve a level of comfort, the key is getting support – because it’s simply impossible to raise two or three kids and work full-time without it, she told Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place podcast.

I waited until I was 34 to have children, which meant I had already established my business before starting a family.

I don’t think I would have accomplished as much if I’d married my husband when I was younger, like 22 or 23. We actually met back then, but I wasn’t ready to get married yet.

If I’d gotten married and had kids so young, there’s no way I could have managed the restaurant and started the school – I accomplished all of that within just ten years, and it wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

Prue first met her future husband, Rayne Kruger, when she was in her early twenties. They had an affair while he was married to a close friend of her mother, and later married in 1974. He passed away in 2002.

They had two children: Danny, who is now 50 and a Conservative MP representing Devizes, and Li-Da, 49, whom they adopted as an infant from Cambodia.

Prue remarried in 2016, tying the knot with retired fashion designer John Playfair when she was 76.

She continued, explaining that she opened her restaurant by 1969, and the 1970s were her busiest years. That’s when she also launched a cookery school, and both businesses were thriving.

I had my children in 1974. After they were born – one biological and one adopted – I started using childcare, first with an au pair and then with a nanny.

The popular baker, back on TV for the new season of the Channel 4 show on Tuesday, strongly believes women shouldn’t feel pressured to handle everything all at once.

When asked if women can have it all, she replied: ‘No, you can’t have it all.’

She admitted she wouldn’t have thrived as a stay-at-home mother, explaining she’d likely find constantly being around young children dull and exhausting.

Prue added that she would have constantly gotten upset with everyone. She believes the children need a break from their mother, and you need a break from dealing with them, too.
