The actor, recently involved in controversy and known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Creed films, is facing protests on the set of his new action movie. He’s partnering with the conservative media company The Daily Wire for the film, which is intended as a nostalgic throwback to 1980s action movies like Red Dawn.

Although the picket line is likely to create more conflict around the Jonathan Majors film project, it’s not because of Majors himself. According to Deadline, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) is protesting on the South Carolina set due to disagreements about working conditions. Dallas Sonnier, a producer on the film, called the strike unjustified and hinted at the exciting, action-packed movie to come.
We’re focused on action – explosions, helicopter flights, and fighting villains in movies – and don’t have time to worry about a small group of protesters and their unofficial protest.
The protests started after the film crew stopped working late last week, and it’s currently unknown how much filming has been affected. Despite the protests, filming is still happening, with the producers, Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend, looking to hire new crew members to replace those on strike. The union is advising people not to work on the project.

This new action thriller is Majors’ first film in three years, following a quick rise to prominence. He previously starred in popular projects like the HBO series Lovecraft Country, the Netflix Western The Harder They Fall, the war film Devotion, the critically praised Magazine Dreams, Creed III, and as the Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror.
The actor, recently convicted of misdemeanor assault and harassment against his former girlfriend and facing abuse allegations from multiple women, experienced a significant career setback. However, similar to other actors who have faced public backlash, he’s now working with The Daily Wire on a new action thriller. The film, written and directed by Kyle Rankin (known for Run Hide Fight), is inspired by 1980s and 90s action classics like Red Dawn and Toy Soldiers, and will center around a group of young people fighting against an invading force.
