The creators of games like Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, known as SHIFT UP, have formally announced their upcoming significant project named Project Spirits. This game is categorized as a “subculture” title that embodies the distinct taste of “Eastern Fantasy”. The studio plans to release it globally in the year 2027.
With the first logo and artwork for Project Spirits revealed, SHIFT UP is actively hiring
Originally called Project Witches, this upcoming game is currently in development as a comprehensive cross-platform title suitable for both PC and mobile devices. Known as Project Spirits, it’s being crafted with the powerful Unreal Engine 5 and will carry on SHIFT UP’s legacy of delivering stunning visuals and captivating narratives.

According to the information provided, this is a fresh intellectual property that will be added to the expanding roster of the studio backed by Tencent. Last April, SHIFT UP started hiring for their AAA urban sci-fi action RPG project, but at that time, the title was not disclosed.
This game is anticipated to blend sleek action and fairy-tale-like visuals with a compelling storyline, all influenced by anime. The official artwork and logo have been unveiled, offering a sneak peek into the game’s artistic style, reminiscent of the “Genshin Impact” contest.
To put it simply, I’d say: While I can see some resemblance to the discontinued Destiny Child characters in the design, it seems that AI-generated art has been used here, and it doesn’t seem like an exact representation of what things might actually look like, just based on this cover visual.
It’s worth noting that SHIFT UP has verified a forthcoming sequel for the game “Stellar Blade”, but it won’t be making an appearance on your smartphones.

SHIFT UP is currently seeking talent for an upcoming project, with positions available for roles like project managers, character artists, level designers, scriptwriters, and more. Since the launch is not imminent (a few years away), we’re keen to gauge interest and see how things develop. However, considering SHIFT UP’s past successes, this could potentially be another major achievement.
