Professor Green’s Miracle Baby: Overcoming Misdiagnosed Miscarriage and Crying Happy Tears

As a devoted companion, I can attest that I have seldom experienced such an overwhelming outpouring of joyful tears as when my partner received the news that her previous diagnosis of miscarriage had been incorrect.

During the pandemic, the rapper (whose actual name is Stephen Manderson) experienced deep sadness when his companion, Karima McAdams, learned she had lost the baby she was carrying several months into her pregnancy.

During a conversation on the Who We Are Now podcast with Richard and Izzy Hammond, Professor Green, aged 41, revealed that he was discussing the events for the first time.

‘We were informed that we had experienced a miscarriage during the COVID period. This news left me in tears, sitting in the car park, waiting for her to arrive. I had to step away from my partner at a time when she needed me the most.’

The couple were told the heartbreaking news about halfway through Karima’s pregnancy.

He stated that this occurred approximately four and a half months following a period of about three months without disclosure to others. During this time frame, it was as if he was saying, “You are going to have a baby.

At this juncture, it becomes clear to you that having just any baby isn’t enough. What you truly desire is that specific one, as a connection has already begun to form.

After absorbing the recent news, Professor Green remembered how the couple had wept profusely at home, bracing themselves for another possible hospital visit and its associated procedures, exacerbating their already heavy emotional burden.

When someone asks me about my experience with fatherhood, I’ve typically given brief, one-word responses such as “crazy,” “insane,” or “mental” for quite a while. (He said this.)

However, it proved challenging. Naturally, we decided to return home. We shed tears uncontrollably. She had to return the following day to determine whether a procedure was necessary.

On the following day, the pair returned to the hospital where they were given the wonderful news – a miracle, it seemed – that Karima had not suffered a miscarriage. The scans revealed that their child was not only still alive but thriving.

‘The little bugger was in the womb doing the Bogle!’ Professor Green said.

As an overjoyed fan, I can hardly contain myself as I watch his arms moving in a rhythm only he possesses. We couldn’t help but exclaim, “I’ve never shed this many joyful tears!” Indeed, it seemed almost unbelievable that such a performance could evoke so much emotion from me. But alas, he was perfectly fine!

Stephen clarified that Karima’s initial diagnosis of losing her child was incorrect; in reality, she had expelled two mucus plugs, not the baby.

He was simply present. She expelled two membrane sacs prematurely. I hadn’t previously known what these bloody mucus plugs were, he admitted. Turned out, she lost them both, one on the day that ultimately led to her giving birth. This sequence of events, it seemed, was just a series of unexpected occurrences.

Fast-forward several months, and Karima gave birth to their baby boy.

On Monday, we found ourselves at the hospital… The doctor then explained, “Given the circumstances, we plan to deliver the baby. With not many complications present, we believe it would be safer in this situation.

Karima asked, “What might have transpired if I hadn’t shown up?”, to which he replied, “I guess nothing would have changed.” As he uttered the word “not” in “nothing,” suddenly her water broke!

With a robust, healthy baby son now in his care, Professor Green finds himself contemplating life and parenthood in a more thoughtful manner.

Each day, I gaze upon him and recognize – allow me to clarify, as it may sound a bit unconventional – yet each person is truly an extraordinary marvel, he asserted.

Indeed, the process isn’t straightforward at all. The changes a woman experiences during pregnancy or childbirth are simply astonishing and breathtakingly amazing.

Professor Green and actress Karima initially sparked romance rumors in July 2019, following his low-key separation from public relations executive Milly Gattegno.

It’s said they first met through common acquaintances and publicly appeared together for the first time at the Glastonbury Festival.

In October 2021, the rapper proposed to Karima, who had been his partner for seven months following the birth of their first child together.

In April 2024, it was reported that they had parted ways, but more recent evidence suggests that they might have reconciled. During a recent interview, Professor Green referred to her as his “companion.
